HELP PLEASE. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Has anyone had trouble with the ball joints on the 2003 going bad for no apparent reason? In June I had to have the upper right replaced, the whole inside (facing tire) half was gone! Now I have to have the lower left replaced. I don't off road, our highest speed limit here is 25 mph (LOL), and it only has 21,700 miles on it....10,000 of which were on it when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago. Can anyone shed some light as to what might be causing this or has anyone had similar problems????

Well therein lie-ith the problem. While you have not offroaded your truck or driven it over 25 mph, you don't really know what the previous owner did with it or to it for the first 10,000 miles.
I also have an 03 and I don't recall any threads regarding ball joint problems in massive numbers.

Have you ever had your front end aligned? I imagine if your front end is out of alignment and you drove it that way for a considerable amount of time and miles it would cause your ball joints to fail prematurally.

One other possible explanation is the original owner may have replaced them with aftermarket parts that were faulty or of poor quality.
