The truck belongs to a local doctor. We have done all the service work on his truck. It is in great shape..

I talked to the Doc. He assured me the vehicle is in excellent condition. Never flooded. Serviced every 3,000 with documentation. If Auggie says its in good shape, you can bid confidently. Good Luck, You'll be getting a great truck.:perfect10s:

If you choose to buy it MAKE SURE IT HAS HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED!!! Also get the cooling system pressure tested, have a dealere bring the system up to 15 PSI and let the truck sit for a half hour, it should not drop more then a couple of PSI, again dont touch this truck or any other 96-99 HUMMER without ensuring that these things have been done.

The Turbo Diesel H1's produced from 96-99 had a flaw in the casting on the number 8 cylinder, causing the blocks to crack.

Honestly I would pass it up then. A new engine is not cheap, to have a HUMMER dealer install it will run you between 12-15K depending on the dealer. If you really do have your heart set on it though just get it pressure tested like I said earlier, that will tell you weather or not the engine is bad. If it is still good and you would like to buy the truck there is one thing you can do, add a rear head cooling kit. There is an HML member that has a 97.5 with over 130K on the odo with its original engine, he put the kit on almost immediately purchasing the truck. Thought I will say, a cooling kit will NOT guarantee that you wont have the engine fail, its insurance, nothing more.
