NON OEM bike hitch

My H3 didn't come with an OEM hitch and I'm looking to add a *low weight* hitch, only to attach a bike rack to. Any suggestions? I see classes, classifications, etc. and its alll something I'm not familiar with.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Have you ever thought about a bike carrier that hangs on your spare tire, might be a little cheaper.

Hi,

Got mine online at hitchfinder.com....it's a drawtite 2" receiver hitch. I mounted it myself.

The bike rack is SportRack 2 bike carrier.

I've got a 2" draw-tite hitch as well. And a Thule Hitch Post Pro.

OK, my H3 has the OEM trailer hitch/rear bumper. Do you know if these two racks that were suggested fit into it?

Best rack is the Sportworks rack, which is now owned by Thule. Been using them for years, over all kinds of terrain, etc. They keep your expensive toys safe!:D

I've got a 2" draw-tite hitch as well. And a Thule Hitch Post Pro.

I have the Thule and it doesn't swing down far enough to open the rear door! It almost needs a hitch extender to allow access into the rear compartment. But, this is on the factory receiver. An aftermarket one might stick out a bit farther. As for the class ratings, that is for towing capacity and a bike carrier doesn't even begin to touch what the class ratings are capable of handling.

Yeah, my Thule rack does swing down far enough to open the rear door. The aftermarket hitch receivers like draw-tite sit lower than the factory ones.

Nice M3, was thinking of getting one but am saving up for a DHSMono 2:1 instead.

How do you like the front mounted hitch? I'm thinking of adding it to my H3 so that I can carry 4 bikes (2 rear, 2 front) for shuttling.

The sportrack I have folds down so I can open my rear door no problem.
