OIL CHANGE?.HOW OFTEN?

I have been changing every 3k, but it seems like I?m under the truck more then in it? How often do you change it?

I go by the Oil precentage gauge, and I change at 40% which by miles is anywhere from 1000-2000 over the garages 3000 mile mark.

Now that I switched to Mobil 1, I'm gonna go about 6000 miles between changes.

Seems a lot easier and less mess if you drop the skid pan. Easier to reach the zerk's. I use Mobil 1 as well and am going 5,000.

i dont remove thge skid, i just use a piece of cardboard, and have a couple of shop towels available cuz it gets on my hands and burns a little too but fukk it, beats givin my greedy asss dealer any money for an oil change

I am now using Royal Purple Synthetic oil and plan on changing every 6,000 to 7500 miles, even though you can go longer with it. It is well worth the price difference, and evens out to be the same or less in cost, since you skip that in between oil change. PLUS you get the additional benefits of Royal Purple's technology. You can feel the difference in the smoothness of the engine right away.

Hey Phil, is the Mobil1 ATF or gear lube any good? I noticed they carried it at the Autozone stores:beerchug:

I will try the Mobil1 in the TC & diffs to see how it works out. If not, nothing but Redline after that. Redline has never let me down and I have never seen better.

Could someone please put together a "how to" manual on the oil change thing.

I know how to change the oil but the tranny and all the other points you change oil and lube the undercarrige.

Just a quick manual with pictures (:shhh: )


Maybe something like this excist, then please just point me in the right direction

When dash says a percentage in the single digits for oil life remaining. ATF every 25K, and diffs at the same time.
