Just got Hummer Happening invite...

Got my first Hummer Happening invite from my dealer (Demontrond in Houston). They have a couple of requirements.

First is step bars need to be removed. From what I've read here, that is a good one, and the dealer will remove and reinstall for free.

Second is rocker panel protection and undercarriage protection are required. This sounds a bit overboard to me, perhaps the delaer looking to make a few bucks on accessories?

What do you guys think? Will they typically take new owners to places where the protection is required?

I'd like to try wheelin', but if I'm going to have to spend quite a bit of money (and if the danger of wrecking my truck is that great), I may have to pass.

I have been before. They have air guns to take off your current side steps and so forth.

It is a good idea to have rocker protection but not a total necesity. They wan't to be sure no one hurts their Hummer. If you are comfortable with it then you are OK.

They will test your vehicle but they will be safe also, so nothing crazy, crazy. Just a little crazy http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The add ons are probably a good investment though if you are going to do a lot of off roading. Just don't feel pressured.

My dealer never said anything about rocker and under carrige.Man I just have base package with mine.I am going next weekend to my first hummer weekend to.

What are the details of the Hummer Happening? Where is it, what's the date, etc? Is it open to all Hummers or just those purchased at Demontrond? I purchased mine in Houston but from McGinnis.

I guess I'll call them and ask, but the invitation states "H3 owners should ensure their vehicle has rocker panel protection and undercarriage protection installed before going offroad." The way it is written, it is a requirement to attend the happening. If so, it'll keep me from going this time.

WOYSTER: This HH is for Demontrond customers only. I know that McGinnis does their own, so you'll likely get an invite from them. I saw pictures of their last one (in Columbus), it looked like fun.
