I bought an offshore boat that was a DEA seizure for cheap. It had been operated off the Florida coast and was nicely outfitted with nav equipment and night IR low vis dash lights (for some reason) :shhh:
Every compartment held an inspection tag since it had been well swept and surprisingly the boat was mechanically well cared for with the exception of about a square foot of ruined gel coat in one spot where it had been tied up with no bumper.
I always dreamed of finding a big brick of cash tucked away, but never did.
It ran like a scalded cat and we enjoyed it for a few years but grew tired of putting $500 worth of gas in it every weekend. I had the gelcoat fixed and did well on the resale.
So, there are real deals to be found at those auctions, but the front-end sites selling information are a scam.
