No doubt 285's look and handle better than the more narrow 265's but how much drag do they create in the H3. Any impact in on road acceleration or reduction in gas milage?

Off the top of my head the only person I recall that has gone from the 265s to the 285s is HIHummer. Don't know of her having any noticable change other than a small reduction is MPG.

265's are standard, right?

They are the 32"s that come stock on the Base and Lux models. The 285s (33") are what come with the Adventure package or the off road suspension option on the Lux.

I love my 285's - haven't had them long enough to get a good mileage indication yet. Last trip we went on, we didn't have the computer recalibrated yet and had the old chrome tube steps in a box on the roof with the wind blowing pretty much for 3 1/2 hours on the way home. That came out at 10 - 11 miles per gallon on that trip...

I don't notice that much difference when starting to move after the traffic light.

I just filled up today and the mpg was 12.9 with less than 3,000 miles on it. This would be in town miles.
