I finely found the switch I want to put on the third rear light. It is the one that flashes 3-5 times and goes steady when the brake is applied. I had one on my Yamaha V-Star and it saved me from getting rear-ended a few times.
My question - how do I get the molding around the window off so I can wire the thing up?

Watching this thread too. I have the switch too, but did not want to start ripping things off back there.

Think ya got two choices... Work inside the jack housing area or just pull the door trim off... You should be able to just pull it off.. Takes a good bit of pulling and prying. The clips holding it place are just plastic, if you break one or four you can get replacements pretty cheap..

In line connector is to the right side of the door. So, if that is the connector you need to access, you should be able to reach in via the jack door and reach over. Per the harness prints, it is almost even with the height of the wiper motor.

If you are not using a connector, but have to splice into the wires, you can splice into them in the main body harness running down the driver side of the vehicle under the sill molding/carpet. It will be a lt blue wire, that is hot only when the brake is applied.

f5fstop - Thanks for the info. It is much appreciated. I think I'll see if everything will fit up front, easier access.

thanks again.
