I was wondering, this maybe a little to late now but, I was out driving for fun and a Simi-Rescue mission yesterday; for about four hours in and out of the HIGH water that we we're having here in Houston and wanted to know if doing this may have Damaged anything. The water was up to the doors, but I never stopped just came to a slow crawl a couple of times
so the wake I was creating didn't slam into the cars pulled off to the side.

i would say the most that could happen in deep water crossings is getting some water in the diff. Its always a good idea to get the diff. fluid changed after deep and extended water crossings, but i'd say you're probably okay. Does anyone know how high the diff. breather tube goes up?

Well, after I went through this...the only damage I got was the horn sounded terrible!!!! barelly audible. The good thing is that when I went to fix my mirror at the dealer...I told them that something was wrong with the horn and they gave me a new one....(seems to me that it was louder than the original one) no questions asked.:dancingbanana: :clapping:

T/case and axle vent tubes are high up, so if the case is not leaking, water should not enter. Even with a small leak, the inside is higher pressure than the outside, unless the leak is at the front and water is being forced in.

Good deal. With Jeeps we always had to be cautious about the water entering the diff for some reason.

Is that a red crocodile I see in that swamp or is it just me??? :giggling:
Nice photo!
On that note though, I hear that the components aren't sealed for water and even if a snorkel was attached, it wouldn't help. Do they sell kits to waterproof these badboys?

I'll have to mention the horn next time I go in. After running through a bunch of water a couple weeks ago my horn barely works too. They must have given you an '07 horn, supposed to be louder.

DO NOT EXCEED 20" OF WATER. PERIOD.
The doors on the H3 are NOT water tight, and the electronics on under the carpet and in the door panel(s).
Take it from me, I have seen the horror of water coming in through the doors and shorting everything out. My Red 2006 H3 is now history because of it. I suspect it was partially due to the fact that my truck was at a bad sideways angle, and may have been torqued front-to-back, but it was still totalled with only 3,000 miles on it after owning it only 6 weeks.:crying:
If you value your H3 do not put it into water.
I didn't get the name "Captain of the Titanic" for nothing...

um captain, I've gone through 30 inches with no problem. The only trickle leak I had was because there was a little dirt on one of the seals so it didn't seat tightly. And that's your H2 that's rated for 20 inches. Ours are rated for 24:giggling: :OWNED:

Doesn't Hummer say that the H3 can "ford up to 24" of water"?

Guys, that wasn't my first post, and yes, I do NOW own a H2. My H3 was totalled with only 3,000 miles on it after 6 weeks. I won't go into details again (see my previous H3 posts), but the water came in very fast.
If you are blasting through the water, I would say no problem. But do not get stuck. There is nothing worse than killing a beautiful truck like the H3. The only reason why I bought a H2 is the interior size. With a baby and a 12 year, it just wasn't big enough.
I did like the mileage a lot better, tho. 10-11 mpg is hard to get used to.
I miss my '06 Victory Red H3, adventure package.
Take care and be careful. The truck you kill may be your own.

From your first post....
"Hi, I am new to this forum. I am an owner of a 06 victory red adventure series. As a fossil hunter who uses the off road capabilities of the H3, I have been pleasantly surprise by the H3's performance off-road. I previously drove a Tahoe with every upgrade known to man kind knick named "The Beast" but got tired of 9 miles per gallon and bought the H3.
Currently, however, my H3 is in the shop and will be for quite some time. Seems the H3 is NOT AT ALL water-tight, and with the lousy stock tires on it, I managed to get in a little mud, and it slid sideways into a farm pond. 1 inch of water on the left side, 30 inches of water on the right, and an interior full of water."
FROM THE NEXT POSTING YOU DID:
"I was NEXT to the farm pond and slid sideways. It was newly dug and steep sided. Ergo the 1" of water on the left and 30" on the right.
The passenger seat was half-way under water (as well as the right side of the back seat) and I'm being told that the seat will only have to be cleaned, not replaced."
Still say, if the passenger seat was half-way under water, you were deeper than 30".
All I'm trying to say is you are not the best qualified to state not to go over 20 inches of water. Your first posting was nothing but a blast against Hummer/Onstar and the H3.
Oh, and I have basically idled through over 24 inches of water this weekend. Could not barrel through due to other traffic.
