Hey all. First post here so go easy on this H3Noob.
But I figured since I am planning on buying soon, I might as well get my feet wet here.
Thinking of going with the 2007 H3. Probably the base model. Just wondering if I am loosing anything substantial by not going with the adventure or luxury package.
Also, I wonder if anyone can give me info on the stigma attached to owning an H3. My GF just informed me that there is a general consensus that people who drive them are A$$holes. Really the first I have heard of that. I just think the H3 is more like a work of art.
Has everyone's reactions been more positive or negative?
(Not like it will effect my decision. I don't give a crap what people think) :)

If I were to buy again, right now, I'd get the manual. The engine being kind of low on grunt for the heavy H3 would require that. The Adventure package has a couple of things that you just can't live without if you're going off anything more than a dirt road. The 4:1 tcase is to die for, it's amazing. Having the large tires off the showroom floor is nice too. The package is lacking in many ways though. For it to be all that and a bag of chips off road, the '08 should have, off the showroom floor:
A V8
Front locker in an iron housing
Full skid protection
Front winch
Roof rack
Mud flaps (or fix the material gathering system otherwise known as the rear wheel wells)
Air compressor for filling tires
Hey, you folks ever notice that the dimmer wheel for the dash doesn't do much?

Get the Adventure Package you won't be sorry.
You can grow into it's wheeling capabilities.

By buying an 07 you are losing MONEY unless you need the 20 extra HP with the 07
If your short get the LUX pkg for the power seats, the monsoon sound is a bonus.
if goin offroad add the Adv pkg, if not forget it... since i only go over coconuts and curbs i didn't need it.
If owning a H-3 make you an ASS HOLE, then I'm a BIG ONE, I own 2

Curb's will be my primary terrain. (Thats not to say I won't take it offroad, It's just not something I would do often)
Cost wise, do you think it it worth going with a 06 to get a better price?

if you are a part-time wheeler a base unit is just fine if you are nice. I have a base and hung out with H1's all day on the trail. No neg comments but if you live in leaf licker country buyer beware.
Love it! i have had mine since march and just hit 9k.

If your buying an 06 find one you like try and get one without ANY DEALER OPTIONS (high mark up there)
Take the DEALER INVOICE PRICE (not window sticker) deduct the 06 close out incentive which I think is $2500 and then discount another few hundred (against the dealer holdback) and you will have a good deal.
You should be able to save $2500 to $3000 over a 07. LOTA MONEY!
Better in your pocket instead of theirs, RIGHT ???
Keep us informed... Also best time to buy TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY between 10am and 2 PM NO HOLIDAYS OR WEEKENDS and the end of month is best. (only thing is that today is 11-3 and maybe by end of month selection becomes very limited)

The off-road features, whether via the adventure package, or luxury package with the off-road package, is well worthwhile. And if you plan on using this vehicle every day, The luxury package is worth considering, since you'll spend lots of time in your vehicle. The 06's are a teriffic bargain. I have an '06 with the luxury and off-road packages and I'm one happy a-hole. Happy shopping!

I have a 06 base with alot of add on's, But had I known more before I bought it. I would have bought the Lux pkg, I do alot of highway driving form FL to NC and VA and NJ and that Lux pkg would be nice
I love what I have its a year old this month with 25K miles.
And as far as me being a A'hole, I really hope I don't come off as being one. But if ppl think I am because I own a H3 or any other Hummer for that reason then they can KISS MY ARSE!
I buy what I like and I like what I buy.
Whatever you buy let us know and stay in touch.

I like your way with words. I'm a canuck by the way and we had a primeminister named Pierre Trudeau. So during the last gas crunch in the mid seventies when someone heckled him for riding in a big Lincoln he said" I'II come to work in a Sherman Tank if I want." My sentiments exactly .Regards The Rebel

So far everyone that I've met that drives an H3 has been pretty nice. :dancingbanana:
But I have met a few people that don't own one that can be serious *******s.:giggling:
I did 20 years in the Air Force so they can hug trees....If they are allowed to choke their trees like that then I think I can drive a hummer.

The adventure in my opinion gives the truck a beafier appearance. I like the bigger tires, heavy duty suspension and the low gearing in 4Low plus the locking rear Differential.
A vehicle of this type should be tactical ready. Hey in this day and age, one never knows.:OWNED:

Yeah, I have gotten the same **** from my friends that H3's are basically built for *******s. But oh well, it's a good vehicle for what I want to do.
As regard to the '06's, I went in yesterday to work with the dealer in Charleston,SC, and there are slim pickings on the 06's, most are either bling'ed out or $40,000. I am waiting to hear between a green adventure package and a black lux package. I will probably go with the green adventure, but it's age is 367 days, that's a lot to be sitting on a lot.
So if anyone knows of any green, white or black '06 H3's out there below 35k without chrome let me know.
Oh and with GMS the 35k adventure H3 comes down to 31k then $500 off that so 30,500 before TTT plus either $3k off or 0% for 60 months. Not a bad deal if you don't mind a little less power and can find a '06 you like.

There is really only one dealer in my area (Upstate NY) so the pickins are pretty slim for the one I want.
I'm also going to get a supplier discount through my company. Hopefully that will save me a few bucks. Probably enough to upgrade to lux version.
Can anyone tell me if there is a discernible difference in HP between the 06 and 07? Feel wise?

here in Qatar, we don't have so many choice. So i have a base model 06 and believe me, for a basic user, it's quite enough! just this lack of power in soft sand... but i'm talking abour real sand and 100m high dunes!
Talking about others? in this country, Land cruisers are kings... And before i bought my H3, eveybody told me that it was just de la merde (need translation?) in the desert... Well, since i've it, i never get stuck, but saw my friends get layd on the chassis (patrol, land cruiser, pajero, trailblazer...).
And everybody i know is always curious to have a look inside. it's still a myth.
It makes most of people dreams, it makes them throws up sometime, but it does not let anybody indifferent... Even girls like it: strong outside, soft inside.
and whatever people thinks, i'm driving one of my dreams... as everybody around here.

Salut Xof, ?a va? Where are you from in France? I mostly know Belgium but I've traveled a little in Normandy, Paris, the Loire Valley and Orl?ans
There's a couple of french-bashers here, but they're just playing around. C'est juste qu'ils ne savent pas de quoi ils parlent, la plupart n'ayant jamais ?t? en France ou aux pays francophones. But we all love our trucks and you're wecome here. Post some photos. I'd love to see you driving up those massive dunes you're talking about.
Soyez le bienvenu! :beerchug:
