Probably not for serious off-roaders, but something that might be useful for those who use automatic car washes, or soccer moms:

Subject: Rear License Plate Bends (Install Updated License Plate Bracket) #06-08-62-002 - (11/06/2006)
Models: 2006-2007 HUMMER H3
Built Prior to VIN Breakpoints 78122457 (Bumpers with Hitch) and 78121707 (Bumpers without Hitch)

Basically, a bracket installed to hold the bottom of the license plate to prevent it being curled in auto car washes. For those who drag their plates over boulders, it probably won't last longer than one boulder.....:D

Are there any pics of the part yet? Just curious as to how it looks. I like the front and rear plates attached with just the two upper holes, but yes, My plates definately get bent at the car wash!

Oh, my plate isn't supposed to fold in half? I thought it was a James Bond feature of the H3 to make it more difficult for the cops pick you out of traffic when speeding;)

After rebending my plate a few times I bought a metal license plate frame and now it doesn't bend anymore.

it seems like the lower corner always got caught on something.... I like the piano hinge idea :dancingbanana:

Anyone find out more info on this part? Have a picture? Is it worth buying? If it's just some crummy peice, then I'll keep the original mount but it may be a help.

Hinge didn't work for me, problem is when I came down slow on that corner it was like sitting straight down on the plate. after a day in Llano, Tx with the Hummer X club my plate looked like a rolled up newspaper:OWNED:

I lost one rear plate out in the desert, and previous to that had to straighten it out several times. Now I just remove the rear plate before offroading its only a couple of screws so no big deal.

He probably got it at a piano store! :jump:

Try Lowes/Home Depot. I think a brass hinge would really set it off!:clapping:

My brother had a long piece at his shop.
Home depot should have it also.
I ended up puting a 1 inch piece of velcro on the ends and a 1 inch piece of interlock in the middle. It holds up at 90 mph but will hinge with a little presure.

Make sure theres a small gap on the hinge to fit the velcro /interlock in.
I used a stainless steel hinge .
Its been on for a few months its holding up well

thanks for the info. you mean just use the velco to attach the hinge to the plate ?

You put the velcro in between the hinges to hold it so it dont flap in the wind .:twak: you mount it with bolts.

link to install :D
