Remove Water Damage

guys, i parked my car overnight at a spot that turned out to be a death trap. The Sprinklers came on and the next day I had all these white spots on my Black H3. So I washed it, and damnit it didnt come off. It seems like its baked into the paint. Hopefully non of you guys have had that happen, but maybe some may know how to remove it.

Try claying it. I'll bet you the clay will get it out.

Clay will work. If you have never used it make sure you fully understand how to before you start.

I have a black H3 also, if you put a good carnuba wax on it often, like monthly, even brush scratches will come out easier.

Watch the clay or you cna f it up. Good cleaning wax then some mothers

Calcium n the water?
Use the clay, just make sure to use a fluid to keep the clay very wet while using and you won't screw up the finish. Also, don't press on the clay, just let it slide along on the wet surface, and make sure to kneed it often.

Put a cup or two of vinegar in the wash bucket and give it a good wash.
Remember to wax it good afterwords though.

If he is in FL, it is will be sulphar / sulpher or however you spell it. It does a number on things it hits and smell like rotten eggs.

yeah i think there is alot of sulpher in the water, it does a number on toilets. but yea, clay? i have to research that. But has anyone ever had that problem. I really want to try vinegar, but seeing that its acidic, it would take a lot of balls to put it on ur car.

I use White Vinager to clean the windows and thats about it. White vinager will not destroy your window tint like glass cleaner will.

Any way you deal with it, BLACK is a heart breaker of a color. If you want a wet licoriche (SP) look, go on line and look for Zaino. Once you get about five or six coats of the stuff on, nothing sticks to it, and it lasts for about a year.:perfect10s:

where can i get clay? its weird because I only think about the clay that is on the ground when u guys say it. But is there a form of spray clay? or liquid clay or someting like that? And if so, do i find it at an AutoZone or Walmart? im going to buy the vinegar tonight because Im pissed that my h3 is basically ruined in my eyes.

I've been wanting to "clay bar" my car, thats what it's called most frequently. I've only seen it at 1 pepboys and they just got it in. They had mothers and meguires(sp?) both were called clay bar and were 15-17 dollars which included the fluid you need to spray before you work the clay. Never seen it at walmart though and I've looked. Just call over and see if they got a clay bar kit in the cleaning section.

You can buy a clay kit, which includes a small bar of clay and a bottle of cleaner/lubricant. The kits are available at many auto parts stores - just ask. It's very simple to use. The kit will come with instructions, but I'll give you the general idea. Give your vehicle a good wash and dry. Working in small sections, no more than 24"x24", spray enough lubricant on the vehicle so that the clay glides smoothly across the surface. Work it gently back and forth. You do not need to apply alot of pressure and do not use a circular motion like you would with a polish or wax. You will see and feel the contaminants lift right off the paint like magic. Buff the area with a clean, dry terry cloth and then begin the next section. Frequently knead the clay to expose clean material. When the bar is dirty, throw it away and replace it. When you complete the first section, slide your fingers across the clayed surface and then across another area that you thought was clean from your wash. You will be amazed at the difference. Those water spots of yours should lift right out along with all the other crap that is adhered to your finish. The concept of the clay is that micro-contaminants and debris tend to resist the lubricant. As the very sticky clay glides across the surface, it picks up the "non-lubricated" crap which is then buried below the surface of the soft bar, leaving a pristine surface. Pretty cool, huh?

And just think of the workout your arms will get. But I'm sure that you've had some similar experience. 34305

thanks guys, that really helped. But can i put the clay on the chrome? I take it that it isnt much differnet. And for the windows, do i just use the vinegar to get it out.? overall the claying sounds very taxing, and might take a few hours, but i guess thats my punishment for parking it in a bad spot.

When you said you washed it and they didn't come out... did you actually touch the car with a washing mit and soap or just spray it down? Claying doesn't take long at all. Use something like eagle-one never dull polish wadding for the chrome.

It's actually very easy, less work that a wax. Think of it as time spent bonding with your H3.
