We went to the Sacramento Auto Show. It was fun. The FJ is OK, I personally prefer the H3.
So yeah.....like that:dancingbanana:

My buddy owns an FJ, I have wheeled it several times. In my personal opinion H3 is much better all around with one exception, the FJ definitely has more powerful engine but that's it.
One more thing, if you were to really take the FJ off-road and not on that soccer mom confidence course the plastic bumper is so cheap looks like it would break or fall off the first time it bumps into anything significant.
Did you take a good look at the Bumpers???

Blasphemer ! ! ! ! !
Say it aint so......
Stop now or your next test drive will be in a Subaru Outback......
:giggling: :giggling: :giggling:
Truth be told, I was actually looking at the FJ's as well as the H3, but I just couldnt stomach paying 3 or 4 grand over sticker for the FJ.
The Toyota dealer was horrible.
Acted like he was doing me a favor........
But then... I went to Sewell Hummer in Dallas..
Made my deal on a black H3 and was out in less than 3 hours.
Haven?t regretted buying the H3 yet.

Well, I've always thought Toyota makes a nice vehicle. Would love to have a land rover. But personally, I think the H3 is much cooler (than FJ)! So I bought it! And love it.

Toyota Land "Cruiser" is a nice vehicle as well as the Land Rover line of vehicles, but not in the same price as the H3, they compete more with the H2. The Land Cruiser sells for around 56K, and not sure if there are any Land Rovers under 40K.

Nice to see someone take it over a bigger obstacle than a curb :D
How was the ground clearance and articulation?
What did you think of the FJ's visibility and blind spots? I thought they were worse than the H3 and I hated the mirrors ... not wide enough to be useful, imo.

Ditto on the mirrors and the visibility.
Although those I could get used to in time.
Two things I disliked the most:
When you go to shift, the is no real center console. The shifter in on the floor. I felt like I was in my grandpas old ranch truck.
There is no cockpit type feel to the interior, like the is in the HUMMERS and my TLC for that matter.
Second is the front seat belt are in the rear suicide doors. The rear passengers have wait for the front passengers to unbuckle and open their door to get out of the vehicle.

Well, the reason I bought it originally was for reliability.I have seen some on the IH8MUD forums, with no less than 200-300K miles, and have done no more than replace a head gasket.
There is NO plastic. The one you see is all leather inside, even the third row seat and door panels. No expense is spared when it comes to quality. None.
Yes it has a inline 6 cyl!!!! The new ones do have V-8s.
They were a luxury Vehicle, and still are.

OK Bebe's...I understand the above ..but are we just talking interior qualty for that extra XX $ Grand..??
When you say no expense is spared... how much better is there drive line and or components to the H3 to justify that money. Back in the day Rolls Royce use to use GM Cadillac Auto trannys in there cars.
I would think that Eaton ..Borg Warner and other American drive line componet mgf's make a solid long lasting product also.
Of course ..I'll give the Brit's there Prop's for the Land Rover as it is a fine vehicle.

In the case of the components, for the Toyota Land Cruiser, they are just better quality. Period. If a truck can last , running strong for 200-300K without any major issues. I'd say it's speaks for itself.
It has a straight axle front and rear. It comes stock with 4:10's, and you could get them with front and rear lockers. The FZJ80, (which I have), is Full time 4WD, meaning it has a locking center. Mine does not have lockers, but for the most part it does not require them. Straight axle in the front makes up for alot.
Like the H2, it weighs almost 7K. They call the earlier versions, "the Iron Pig". All versions, 45, 55, 60, 70 , 80 , 90, and 100's, are state of the art at the time they are/were built.
If you want to read up on them, go to www.IH8MUD.com (http://www.IH8MUD.com) . It's a great site.
PS. The "Land Rover" is no where near as well built and reliable as the "Land Cruiser". Not even close.

You would think it is based on the adds they use to run... I know the Land Cruiser has been around for a long time and enjoys a great rep..
The race that is sponsered by Camel Cig's and run in the jungle somewhere...were those Land Cruisers or Rovers..?? Don't know if they still do that one or not. That was insane..

People like you are sociopathic. Typically stemming from less than ideal childhood experiences, in which you were undoubtedly abandoned physically, emotionally and spiritually.
The sad thing is, less than 10% of people with your range of issues, ever realize, that there is a better way to live life than to merely survive it.
Most of what I do on this forum is for fun. I genuinely like and in some cases, adore the members here.
You however are a negative thinker. Probably a dramatist, or as I have seen in some cases, a catastophist. You are excitable, and tend to escalate, instead of walking away.
Poor pitiful you, say what you want. It means nothing to me. You mean nothing to me.

You hate yourself, don't you? Get kicked off of many message boards for your initial passive agressive behavior that turns sour after you easily have been found out.

You hate yourself, don't you? Get kicked off of many message boards for your initial passive agressive behavior that turns sour after you easily have been found out.
Hmmmm.....
Passive Aggressive Traits:
*FEAR OF DEPENDENCY - Unsure of his autonomy & afraid of being alone, he fights his dependency needs - usually by trying to control you.
*FEAR OF INTIMACY - Guarded & often mistrusful, he is reluctant to show his emotional fragility. He's often out of touch with his feelings, reflexively denying feelings he thinks will "trap" or reveal him, like love. He picks fights to create distance.
*FEAR OF COMPETITION - Feeling inadequate, he is unable to compete with other men in work and love. He may operate either as a self-sabotaging wimp with a pattern of failure, or he'll be the tyrant, setting himself up as unassailable and perfect, needing to eliminate any threat to his power.
*OBSTRUCTIONISM - Just tell a p/a man what you want, no matter how small, and he may promise to get it for you. But he won't say when, and he"ll do it deliberately slowly just to frustrate you. Maybe he won't comply at all. He blocks any real progress he sees to your getting your way.
*FOSTERING CHAOS - The p/a man prefers to leave the puzzle incomplete, the job undone.
*FEELING VICTIMIZED - The p/a man protests that others unfairly accuse him rather than owning up to his own misdeeds. To remain above reporach, he sets himself up as the apparently hapless, innocent victim of your excessive demands and tirades.
*MAKING EXCUSES & LYING - The p/a man reaches as far as he can to fabricate excuses for not fulfilling promises. As a way of withholding information, affirmation or love - to have power over you - the p/a man may choose to make up a story rather than give you a straight answer.
*PROCRASTINATION - The p/a man has an odd sense of time - he believes that deadlines don't exist for him.
*CHRONIC LATENESS & FORGETFULNESS - One of the most infuriating & inconsiderate of all p/a traits is his inability to arrive on time. By keeping you waiting, he sets the ground rules of the relationship. And his selective forgetting - used only when he wants to avoid an obligation.
*AMBIGUITY - He is master of mixed messages and sitting on fences. When he tells you something, you may still walk away wondering if he actually said yes or no.
*SULKING - Feeling put upon when he is unable to live up to his promises or obligations, the p/a man retreats from pressures around him and sulks, pouts and withdraws.
A passive-aggressive man won't have every single one of these traits, but he'll have many of them. He may have other traits as well, which are not passive-aggressive.

nychot,
What positive do you bring to this forum? Your entire argument is completely hypocritical. You insult and attack without class or dignity. Your presence here pollutes the place. Anyone can claim anything, I don't believe you have received three e-mails let alone 30, I'm calling that a lie. Anyone that needs someone like you to defend them wouldn't have my respect anyway.
I am new here but have read much material by the ones you refer to where they have given information and shared knowledge with others. I believe it is you that offers absolutely nothing to others here.
I'm sure you'll have plenty to say, but all it will consist of is lies and insults so nobody's gonna take any of it seriously. You are a waste of time.

We've looked at the new Toyoto, the Hummer H3, and have considered the still-to-be-seen 4 door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (which has potential.) We would love to buy an SC, but then I saw the specs and was shocked -- SHOCKED! I hope I'm wrong on this, but does the SC only come in 2 WD, not 4 wheel??? We live in New England and require 4 wheel, AWD. If this isnt true then we'll have to get the loaded EX. Tell me it's NOT true. Please??? Awaiting replies. New to the club. TIA."

This was FJ vs the Tree part one. Same brother, same FJ, different tree. After this $4000 trip to the body shop, the ARB was recommended in place of the stock plastic. I think the sequel is better, especially knowing a steel bumper was crunched. I'll keep you posted for part 3 (i know they'll be one) after another $4000 goes to fix the FJ.
are you kidding, the fj driver did the same thing in both videos. lead foot!
