Motor Trend and Four-Wheeler both said that the H3 is a lot better off-roading than the Grand Cherokee, and that's a Jeep (and they're known for off-roading). Awesome, right?!?! Maybe I should try to get one when I turn 16 because my dad wants something that I'll keep for a long time. Does anybody have info about lift kits for the H3?

The h# do not need lift kits, they are perfect stock, and wheel outwheel most Jeeps.

As a Jeep owner, I have to agree with that acronym, but it is not as bad as the Vette in emptying my pockets.http://hometown.aol.com/f5fstop01/images/yellow%20rolling%20on%20floor%20laughing.gif
In answer to the first question, yes, a H3 is better off road than a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but they are different animals. Not that many people off road a Cherokee, it is more like a soccer mom 4-wheel drive vehicle, similar to a Trailblazer.
Wranglers are the Jeep that are noted for off road travel, and they do an excellent job off road. However, on the regular highways and byways, they are terrible. Blown around by the wind, bounce like crazy due to their short wheelbase, and generally stripped with no creature comforts, even with cloth seats and air.http://hometown.aol.com/f5fstop01/images/banghead.gif
They can go places Hummers can't go, not because of off road capability, but because of their smaller size.
I will be selling my Jeep in the next few months and moving on to a H3 to have a vehicle that is excellent off road (as good as a Wrangler, as long as their is side and roof clearances), but more importantly, a heck of a lot more comfortable to drive on the highways and regular roads (better fuel mileage too).
I guess I can summarize the reason I'm switching is that when I'm traveling cross country in my Vette and see a neat off road trail, I wish I had the Jeep. When traveling cross country in the Jeep, I wish I had the Vette for the highways. The H3 will solve these problems. Good looking, comfortable, civilized to drive cross country, and when I come across that intriguing 4x4 road, just pull onto it and continue the trip.

As a current Jeep owner, I love my Jeep but I'm planning on switching to the H3 in a few months. I had a Jeep in the past and switched to an Expedition and went back to a Jeep for the fun factor and the ability to get places off-road if I chose to do that. As many of you have mentioned, the H3 will give me the ability to do the off-road with the on-road comforts as well.
