16,000 miles and had to change my pitman/Idler arm

I went in to get an oil change, and thank God my Dealership checks this stuff out. my pitmam/idler arm where very worn, they replaced it under warranty off course. I want to to get a better after market one but I figure as long as it is covered under warranty, and they keep checking it I will stick with the stock ones for now. 3 cheers for SAC HUMMER:perfect10s:

I was reading a post on another site and found out that this pitman/idler arm is a big issue especially the 03' Cognito makes a pitman/idler arm support and a gusset to weld in which will help the issue have. Mine is on order now!

there really are no better after market arms. As Thai said, get the Cognito supports (http://www.trailduty.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=36&products_id=108) to help slow down the wear. It helps stop the centerlink from rolling back and forth, reducing wear at the pitman an idler.

If it makes you feel any better Bully, I have mine replaced about every 10k miles or so.

I hope your warranty doesn't change if you change all those parts. Tie rods are one thing, but changing the linkage might cause them to keep their hands off it afterward. If they install it, make sure they'll help you replace it when it needs it.(you'll have to pay for the parts, of course) I just thought it was worth mentioning. :)

Are you still running the stock wheels and tires?

yes still have stock tires and wheels, so I figure, I have proof that if I get the bigger tires that they can't blame it on the tires now.:fdance: Funny my dealer even agrees that the pitman and idler arm suck and that I should upgrade, so I figure or hope they would not have a problem if I do put supports on since they agree that is sucks.

Have large tires and rims. Dealer changed mine out at 10,000 miles and the mall queen never left the pavement.
