i'm waiting for light to come on which will be very soon and i project it will be about 13 mpg. :crying: :crying: :crying: i didn't think it would be that bad. 3/4 country-suburban driving, not going over 45 during break-in period. driving very conservatively. is that mileage off the wall, or expected during very early break-in period. if i'm lucky i'll hit 300 miles when the refill light comes on. with 23 gallon capacity, thats about 13. i know there are mileage threads here. but newcomers are buying '07s so it would be interesting to hear what they're getting, and to hear what the veterans say. i was getting 17 on my '03 toy 4runner ltd with 8 cylinders from the day i got it until today when they picked it up, end of 39 month lease.:crying: :crying: :crying:

Too early to tell, and math is incomplete for a mileage calculation. Give it a few more miles of break-in.

In 30,000 miles lowest I''ve seen is 14, highest 18. Usually get 15 in mixed driving (city, suburb, fast freeway) with a pretty heavy foot.

When my light comes on it is all I can do to put in 20 gallons. If yours does that, 300 miles would be 15mpg. A bit low, but since it is new it could come up.

Who filled it up the first time? If it was the dealer, they likely shorted you a bit by not topping off.

Hope it gets better, but if it doesn't, it is still a Hummer.:D

The general rule is... the less MPG you get, the cooler you are. I had like 18mpg average during break-in, but I babied it. My last tank before I traded the H3 in was 10.6 mpg. :giggling:

hey when the gas light goes on, how much miles do u think u have left in that tank? Normally i dont wait for the light to go on because A: im not sure it went on B: because im a panzy

I wanna wait until it goes on so i know how many miles im getting.
I already put on 3300miles on my '07, i obviously dont play around:jump:

My 1st tank = All city driving I got 14.3 mpg. My last tank = All interstate driving I got 17.1 mpg. On a total of 8 tanks so far with the average being 16 mpg. I'm happy. :fdance: :jump: :fdance:

Can't think of why your getting lower though, unless its air filter related...or speed related. :p :giggling:

I agree and 15 is only one gallon lower than the estimate. In addition, weather has a direct relation to the fuel mileage.

Good point HumbleAg. I usually have around 330 miles before the light comes on and can usually only put around 20 gal in. Thats about 16.5 mpg. Have seen 19 on the highway and low of about 14. I haven't driven far enough on the empty light to put in 23 gal...

it's definitely not speed or heavy-foot related. i'll see what it looks like after the 2nd tank. if it's still lower than what everyone got, i;ll bring it up with the dealer. what would the aur cleaner issue be?

I'd suggest monitoring several tanks first (keep a log and do the math correctly), that way the truck will be broken-in. Personally I check my mileage at almost every fill-up and write the calculation (mileage, gallons, mpg) on my Chevron receipt.

From everyone elses math when light goes on they fill up 20 gallons, with a 23 gallon tank @ 15 mpg you have roughly 40-45 miles left when the light comes on. :clapping:

Got my 06 H3 in august got my best hwy mpg of 17.5 :) all highway cruise set at 70 mph with less than 1000 miles on odometer, now with about 16800 my best mpg is 15 on hwy w/cruise set at seventy so after break in mine got a little worse:( all this with extra weight of winch, roof rack, high lift and pull pall. not sure what changed for less mpg but still get 15 on 20.1 gallons when light comes on so i,m satisfied although it would be nice to see city mileage during hwy driving:p

I think it varies a lot as you can tell with the repsonses here. I got a 20mph and quite a few 19s during the early part of break in. Now with winter, it is not as good. But in 11K miles it averages out over 18mph. Not bad. I am pretty casual , and it's a 5 speed.

13 to 14 is all you will ever get. I got 13.9 on my last tank, went about 249 miles till the light came on and then put in 19 gallons.

I have the lux/offroad with 33 inch tires. i think people getting better mileage are with 32 inch tires and manual tranny.

No. I have the lux with off-road package and auto, and I get better than 14 during the warmer months, and this figure is based on to and from work, which is totally stop and go in this area. As for highway, I have obtained over 18 mpg.

I use to run my 73 Ford 460 CID Thunderchicken to work. Nine miles one way..I had to run it on 93 Octane or else it sounded like 8 midgets with hammers inside the motor.

Best I could do was 9.5 MPG.....So my 07 H3 is like a Solar powered rig to me.
Gas Milage...Who cares..?? I'm haven fun just talken to the OnStar Beeyoch...:jump:

Nope. I have Adventure package (33" BFGs) with auto. Get 17 consistently, have only dropped to 16 when driving is all stop and go in traffic. Most of my driving is highway (or at least constant speed with little traffic). I probably drive a bit more conservatively than most, but I'm not a granny.

I have an 06 with the adventure/Lux and I have been averaging 13.5 to 14.5 combined city/highway. Wish I could get the 17 mpg people are talking about.

Trust me, that 17mpg HAS to be mostly highway or downhill. There is no bloody was with, say 70% city will you get that...

Agreed, based on my experience with the H3 over the last 30,000 miles.

My 07 has just 2000 miles on it now. Base pkg, with the auto. I've been getting 14mpg with it back and forth to work, which is mostly 55mph country roads with stop signs and some city driving. The first tank was close to 12mpg, and that was with 100 miles of highway!

Yea my father had one of those pimp mobiles (460 cid Cougar) of similar vintage. Nice power, handled like a boat, stopped like one too.

I wouldn't worry too much about your first tank of gas. It isn't even broken in yet. I bet you are doing lots of little test rides for your friends or trips to the store just for fun.

Your getting about 14 mpg.

The best mileage you wil get will be on a long hwy trip below 70mph and without stops and starts.

From an earlier trip this year.....

I got 15 MPG on a 215 mile run!

Not bad at all since we went from Mojave CA and on thru Last Chance Canyon and Golar Gulch (again). We spent 6 hrs on the dirt roads 4x4 and much in low range and with lots of stops, rocks etc. I gassed up at home and still had 8 gallons in the tank!

I can dig it!

Pretty much the same car Steve. Chassis and drive line. And it does handle like a boat. What is scary ..is trying to stop it at 60 or so MPH. I throw it into Nuetral which helps alot to bring the speed down quickly when I have to stop fast.
Otherwise .the motor tries to drive the rear wheels while braking.
