I just got the February 06 issue of Four Wheeler magazine with the 2006 Four Wheeler of the year competition in it. The good news is the H3 beat the Jeep Commander, the bad news is it finished 3rd behind the Range Rover Sport and the Toyota Land Cruiser both of which cost about $20K more. In off road ability the H3 finished 2nd to the Land Cruiser. Four Wheeler dousn't have the article online yet, the only article I could find online is from the Toyota Pressroom site.

5th - Suzuki Grand Vitara
4th - Jeep Commander
3rd - Hummer H3
2nd - Range Rover Sport
1st - Toyota Land Cruiser

Well, as said with 20 ++ with the range rover and land cruiser?? I will agree with the land cruiser vote. I had a ride in a land cruiser back in the 70's and it ate trees!!!!!!!!! no problem, with the modern items, well who knows.
Fact is... I also own a Suzuki Grand Vitara with 230,000. miles on it and running with no problems, alittle oil leak, but for a 4 year old suzuki... thats ok.
H3- Time will tell if it can handle 230,000 miles???? american made, Don't buy on monday or Friday!!!!!Reality!! period.

It's true that most American made products get bad reports when compared to their Japanese counter parts but I read somewhere that the I-5 block in the Canyon / Colorado & H3 is manufactured in the same plant as Lexus engine blocks. Can anyone out there verify this and if it's true engine reliability shouldn't be a problem.
