In reference to these http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24276

I got them today. As usual you might as well break out the entire tool box. I may write up a how to later but if anybody really is going to install them I will add some things I figured out along the way. If its worth the space I can get something together. There are some tricks.

Damn this is a tough crowd. How's that Avatar? I guess I better say something about my winch cable being loose on the last few wraps. I pulled a car out last night and my hands were freezing. It slipped after I had it layed on there all nice and straight. Im going to shoot a picture for a guy that wants to see if it limits visibility looking past them. I sit so far back its not much more than the A pillar or mirror. It might hide a Prius but there fast right? Heck I got tunnel vision driving the H3 anyway, my other truck is a Dodge Cummins 3/4 ton, which is like riding around looking out a picture window with two acres of hood compared to this my H3 is a sports car.

Thats the coolest thing I have ever seen. I am a gadget/computer nerd, and if my wife saw this in my H3???? hahaha ...I would be divorced. Looks like you have navigation on computer, and I am assuming you are running video into hard drive as well? Is that correct? What programs are you using, and where did you get that video stand. I could have my brother fab one up, but a little less permanant than what he would create, would be nice. Nice work all around! :beerchug:

OK I give up.... You win for the most toys. :beerchug:

I will admit you have your sh!t hooked up... NICE.

Is your comp bracket mounted to the passenger seat floor mount, I had that in my Dodge Ram before buying the 3. Of course as you know the Ram has tons of room and by the looks of it you have no more room. I like what you have done with the whole setup. I could use the cam set up for the drunk drivers that seems to always get in front of me.

I think it was "crash" who called me a ascessery(Spell Check, lol) whore. Man wait till he sees your 3. LMAO!

I will stick this in here,
Well to both of you, I got cabin fever so I went nuts. Im trying to get ready to go out West to Colorado after the thaw and I want it all!!!! Im mapping our off road park with the quad program and inserting video.
I modify everything I guess, race cars, sailboats, planes and vehicles or all kinds. I custom fabricate all kinds of widgets. I just built a nav station for my boat and installed radar and GPS map plotter, auto pilot and VHF. It is cold and wet here so Im working on my own stuff!

This is the easy way to tell you. I will just paste it.
Got this first
http://www.ram-mount.com/laptop_mount/ramvb165sw1_laptop_desk.htm

Then I was going to remove lap and just use camera so I got all this next stuff to be tall enough without the original TOP post. They don't have a post long enough so I got the extension that clamps on two balls. ha ha
One mounts on the plate and the other mounts on the other end by clamping the ball and then a 1/4 20 screw sticks up for mounting a camera. It took hours to find it on their site.

Ram-VP-TTMF-12U RAM TELE-POLE BASE MALE W FLANGE 12"LONG $37.95
RAM-201-D /RAM DBL SOCKET ARM C BALL D LENGTH $28.02
Ram-202 / RAM2-1.2" DIA. BASE $10.36
RAM-202A RAM BALL BASE WITH 1/4-STST STUD $12.71

Now that I want to have both lap and camera the top socket arm could have been shorter or leave all of that off, two balls and socket arm and use a 1/4 20 bolt and nut directly to camera on top of the plate. I used one of the arms that came with the original set up to swing out for the camera. If that does not make sense I will try to answer any questions. I think my laptop does not like jiggling. This Toshiba has a setting to park the hardrive when it gets whacked and it keeps coming on at the 2 setting. Anyway the camera being close to the windshield and on wide angle only shows a little of the brush guard. If it was farther back it might get the mirror and dash which I did not want. Now of course instead of my old Hi-8 SVHS camcorder I want a new Sony that records 1080i to a 30 gig hard drive. It never ends.......................

My current camera is analog so its too slow to transfer while shooting.
I use DeLorme 3D quads and their streets and highways. I have Garmin Rec Lakes for the middle of the country. That the quick version of all that.
It's ok to have fun........

Now think about that, are you talkin tu me? The protoype was sort of boring and simple. Just a flood light. I think one of these would be overkill back there.

Ha ha ok but I think your ahead in the armour division. Im still light infantry. Have you had a chance to go to a scale and weigh it with everything installed? Im curious what yours weighs on a scale with the combined weight. I have the normal amount of bolt on "stuff" but it added up quick. I think we touched on this before in another thread. Are we having fun yet?? Oh, mine was 5620

More like the "Charge of the LIGHT brigade". Certainly The valley of death never looked so bright! Nice install. How did you attach the go lights?

Hunner

Thru bolted to the covers with 10/24 SS machine screws with nyloc nuts. Im still trying to decide how I might can bolt down the entire assembly to prevent them from getting "lost" I went wheeling yesterday with a large group on some pretty rough stuff. They never moved and are in far enough not to hang out for limbs to grab. The folded in mirrors were close a couple of times.

The wiring would keep them if you took a hit. Guess if you tie wrapped under the covers at a certain length it would sort of bungee the fall out. Either way you definitly have one fun light show for 2 going on there:fdance:

How are your GO lights holding up so far? I really like those and checked out the website you had posted. I ordered 2 and plan to mount them on my front guard.

So far so good. Bulbs holding up for hours. None replaced, yet. Smacked one with a limb, no damage. They are marine grade so Im buying one for the bow of my sailboat so I can find that one particular harbour (Buffet)
