gas mileage w/ a 35"

What is everyone getting for gas mileage with a 35" tire on their H3. I am considering going with this size but would like to know bad my mileage will be. I know the tire is larger so you are covering more ground, but you are also rotating more weight, height and width. I would like to know before I make a mistake either way, with the same 285 or a new 35".

Hi Gibby. You will notice mpg go down with 35"s.Mine dropped 2to 3 mpg.
BUT, level the truck out, put 35"s on, stand back, and admire.
I did it to mine, and it looks a totally differant truck. watch all the other H3 owners stare in disbelief how good your truck looks. If you have the adv package as well, four wheeling becomes really really good. (Still miss the front locker though). Have fun...

I appreciate that, I have seen the difference in the look of an H3 with 35's and it is amazing. I drive more than the average person though and I do have to take into consideration due to the fact that we pay $2.00 / Gal.

dont forget, less revolutions means less mpg shown via speedo, even though you are physically traveling the same distance. it will appear your mpg will be worse than what it actually is.. ;)

And I understand the point that you have to compensate for the difference in tire compared to your odometer, but I would still like to hear what everyone's mileage is.

14mpg average on mine, but well worth it. I was at a auto show today here in town and they had a H3 and a H3x, both with the 285's:giggling: The new 3's were nice until you looked down at the oreo cookie tires. Man I kinda felt embrassed. They really make the ride average after looking at my 35's every day:dancingbanana: One thing that sticks out in your post is traveling alot. I know my gas guage drops alot faster now with the 35's.. Maybe 33's might do the trick for ya. I have a buddy with aftermarket 33's on his and it looks very nice and he can wheel with the best of them.

i have thought about it alot and becasue i am doin 15 k plus a year in milage I am going to a 33 inch tire. 35's are nice but i put too many freeway miles on. i also think the wife will require a step if i go more then 33, right now I don't run any steps. Good luck on your decession

BFG 35 is 34.8
BFG 33 is 33.1

1.7 diff divided by 2 is a mega .85 inch more clearance off the ground did I do that right?

Yep but you got to center that unmounted one on the mounted one to see the diameter. They are wider.
Ha ha I did almost the same comparison picture, this is getting scary. Of course they are wider mounted. I was trying not to get too wide. We have found in the rocks there seems to be a point of too wide for the power of the vehicle and manuvering thru mine fields. Any vehicle. I guess it's the terrain you run in more than anything. Some Cherokees and Rovers went back to more narrow tires, its always somthing.
