View Full Version : Where did you mount your amp(s)?
I just bought 2 amps, a JL 1000/1 and a 450/4. I was planning on bolting them to the back of the rear seats, but there isn't enough room. I'd have to fabricate a piece of carpeted wood large enough to cover both rear seats, making them one piece instead of 60/40 split, and then bolt the amps to that. I can also mount them to the box, but I want to be able to remove it in case I need the room. Any ideas or maybe pics of your installs? Thanks!

Take off your rear side panels and see if there is enough room back behind them for you. Mine is in the drivers side rear compartment, I had to cut the back of it out to make it work.
So your amps are totally hidden?

Yes, and I believe that is the same area that they put the amps for the Monsoon system from the factory.

hhmmm...
The fact that you WANT to be able to remove the sub box when you need some space says something here and gives me an idea and a way to kill to problems at once.. Mounting the amps and the fact the rear seats don't fold flat..
Build a platform the size to the cargo area to set the sub box on and the amps under.. Since the amps will somewhat confined, you may need to go ahead and think about installing cooling fans..
You can remove the sub box when you need space and you can lay the seats down and not have to worry about laying anything on the amps either..
I have this feeling it the amps are to large to bolt on the back of the seats, they will be to large to fit under the kick panels where the Monsoon stuff would go..

My amp is bolted onto the back of my box and you never see it, I turn it sideways to put something large in or to add the seat (in my 07). Works and sounds great, can be removed if needed.
