diesel problems???

Any body else seam to be having more problems than usual with the NEW DIESEL.

Last couple of winters no problem. this year she's tried to cut out on me a few times. and the only thing I can think to cause it is this newer cleaner diesel.
anybody else have the same problems??

Are you running additives? If not probably the cause of you issues. You NEED to run additives every single fill up with the new ULSD that you are using due to the loss of cetane. Thank god we dont have it here yet.

talked to one of my buddies. he belongs to the turbo diesel register forum for Dodgy Rams. apparently the Ram owners are having a lot of problems with seals going due to the new diesel not having the same addatives as the old stuff. how can that be more enviromentaly friendly having your diesel dripping all over the road??

Any suggestions on the additive to use? I've been using Diesel 911 for a couple of years and it seems okay. Always looking for something better though.:dancingbanana:

Most people really like the Stanadyne product. Lucas injector cleaner works ok too if you cannot find the Stanadyne. Powerservice is good too, usually thats what I use. FWIW the Diesel 911 that you are using is the wrong stuff to use. Actually its not good for your engine at all. 911 is used to get you back on the road when your tank gells up, most products that do this have alcohol in them which is death to a diesel. You should switch to the Powerservice stuff in the white can, the grey can will work too, but that is a better summer additive.

Try about a pint of transmission fluid to a full tank of fuel. I don't believe that it is the cetane rating. It's probably the lubricity. Throttleshaft seals need it. That injector pump sure needs it. Besides Tranny fluid cleans pretty well.
