Hummer in for service and was told they had a recall the wanted to fix on my truck. I figured no problem get it done......Well when i picked up the truck i asked what was the recall? I was told kids getting there hands caught in rear seat belt loop caused gm to recall the loops. I asked what did they do and service manager told me they removed the seat belt a sewed the loop togeather............. I figured no biggie i can just cut out the stiching and replace belt. NOT the case when i arrived at home and looked at it. They cut it out and glued it together. I had no choice but to cut it off. Good thing gm contacted me for a survey allowing me to vent. Next day dealer called wanting me to bring truck back to repair. I just havent gotten around to that part yet.

Long story say no to belt loop recall when in for service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:crying:

Go back to the dealer and ask for a new seat belt. They DID NOT follow the procedure prescribed by GM for this recall. In fact, using glue may allow the same problem to come back later.
This is a safety recall, so NHTSA has been notified of the recall and the correction. If the correction is deviated from...well, I'll let you guess.

I would need a new seat. They cut the loop to get the seatbelt out then glued the loop togeather.

In the future- don't ever modify anything you feel the dealer has done poorly or incorrectly. Even though its not right, you just gave them an out and made it more difficult to plea your case if you ever need to.

Worse yet, if your modified restraint failed and caused or worsened injury, your dealer could be off the hook for their share of damages for doing the job poorly in the first place- because you modified it.

No matter how much it frustrates you, make them fix it properly when you're dealing with safety or any other critical system.

At least you can vent to General Motors. With all of the crap I have had to deal with General Motors, when they called they told me that they cannot perform a survey because I use a mobile! I ditched our land line last year and bought two mobiles for me and my wife because it is more practical, and now I can't moan to General Motors. D'oh!
