I came out of the gym today and when I started my H3 it seemed to idle kind of rough, like it had a cylinder miss firing. as I drove back to work the service engine light came one. Please tell me that this is not the infamous head problem. Was too late to call the service department, will call tomorrow to get them tow it in.

I Love when the service department a) changes the rules as they go and b) know nothing of a on going head issue. They had been real good abou tcoming to pick up my H3 from work saving me an hour drive and having to take work off but he said they changed thayt rule just this morning...

I then asked them of they had any ideas and they said it is probably just a plug wire. I asked them about any one else having trouble with the head and their answer was, we have never even heard of that. I asked them if they have any one that follows any of the HUMMER fourms and he said that there would be no reason to do such. I guess no one would benifit from keeping the pulse of teh owners

Thats sucks man. Sounds like Cerritos Hummer. You should print out some of the forum transcripts of all the head threads, for them to read. see what they say. :giggling: Good luck brotha! :beerchug:

They haven't heard about the head problem? My dealership service department discusses it freely without me even bringing it up.

if it's the misfire just work with onstar, they will arrange a tow to the dealer via Hummer roadside asststance and you get a rental at no charge. Educate your dealer if this is the problem. when rental charges are racking up things start to happen.:(

Welcome to the head club. I traded my 06 so hope it went away with that.

Dont know if this helps, but I made a note of...(from another post a few months ago)

"GM Bulletin # 1845907. Dated 7/6/06. The vins with defective heads are less than 68287591. This is the last 8 digits of the vin."

well my VIN definately falls before that. The earilest they can even get it in to the shop is next Friday. They said to drive it in and they will know in two hours if it is going to have to stay the night. and then I will qualify for free rental

That's right. You shouldn't be driving it with that problem. Even though they are telling you that they 'think' it's a plug wire .. tell them you believe it's a safety issue and you won't drive it that way. That's what I had to do. My engine light came up and I felt the rough idle. I called OnStar .. they didn't see a problem. When I took it to the dealer they thought it was probably nothing and said they'd order a couple of parts and call me when they were in. I insisted they have a mechanic look into it more closely while I waited and sure enough it the cylinder head. I got my rental and got the H3 back in about a 10 days. Good luck and let us know what you find out. Hoping yours isn't what we think it is.

The H3 does not have conventional spark plug wires (with their inherent problems).

Driving it with the head problem is not going to damage anything any worse than it already is but I would still want it fixed asap...
Sorry to hear about your problem, it's probably just a matter of time for a lot more of us. :crying:

It won't take this long unless you leave it with them to wait for the parts to get there!! My shop has me down for 2 days for the repair after they get the parts in. They estimate about two weeks to get the parts in.

Plugs wires - the H3 doesn't have plug wires. I forget the proper name (maybe coil on plug??). The coil connects directly to the plug.

Coil on plug, I think is the term.

Well the service engine light went off on the way home, then came back on. it really feels just like a miss but I doubt that. I will give Hummer a call and see what they say.
