20,000 miles on H3 and I just changed over to Royal Purple motor oil. OnStar sends out information once a month. Question is; how can I check to see just how much life is left on oil? I do not like the idea of changing out when I have 50% - 60% or more life left. I have been changing out every 3,000 miles.

Search the forums. We had a really good discussion on this awhile back :beerchug:

press the blue onstar button and ask. if you have a tech 2 scan tool you can use that to check. Or you can just wait for the light on the instrument cluster to tell you. you could also wait for the reports each month, but that way you could overshoot the deadline.

Can't help...sorry. I cancelled Onstar and will never have them again, even if free. (I'll pull the box and run it over.) I just use my GM issued Tech 2, or usually my laptop to check my engine oil life.

What made you do that?

Is that statement to me or Bebe? If Bebe, it didn't offend me.:jump:
If the statement was in regard to Onstar, I HATE ONSTAR.:beerchug:

F5,
What software do you use on your laptop? And is it available to the public? I bought some cheap scanning software a while back, but it doesn't read the oil life remaining.
