How much do they add to your rear height, Bebe? Why are you adding them again?...to keep up with the added front height with new HD Tbars?

Looks like great fab work, can't go wrong with that!

That's one reason, but mostly to add height to the rear to compensate for the weight I have added.

Along with helper springs it will add height and stability to the truck.

Here is cestwicks truck after he added his extended shackles....

Thanks, that makes sense...but the pic's kinda deceiving, isn't it? On a twist, I can get that rear clearance. Got one on flat ground?

Without the new (or highly cranked) T-bars, that'll lift the back up the air like a cat in heat.

I hope not, it's only supposed to add an inch. We will see in the morning:popcorn:

WOW! That makes the 35's look like 33's back there. SO that little bit should help a bit IMO. BEBE, I thought this thread was something complete different!!!!!!!!!:fdance:

You are correct sir.

You are correct sir.

Any concern over laternal flex? Especially with you;) , there's going to be lots of stress on those in all directions and do you think 1/4" plate will have the strength to not bend out of alignment (ie left and right, not forward/backward). They look well built (I like the box design better than the standard H-pattern on other shackles). I dunno what other H3 shackles are using, but 3/8" seems extra beefy and wouldn't add too much weight. Just a thought...

HummBebe
04-02-2007, 07:38 PM
I think the boxing takes care of that. If you saw what the stock ones are made out of....

It looks like you need another main leaf. You can see it bending in the side picture of the shakle

They looked like that before. Those are brand new springs. I am going to add a leaf. I'll get some more info today on that.

'cept these....

add 1500 lb to payload, (provided you have the HD Shocks) and they are adjustable. The springs are Progressive.

One way to find out. They might touch. Those extra bolts.
I know what you can add though now you gots the jacked up rear hanger thingys. Do you have a gun rack and CB?cause you would fit in reeel good roun here.

Hey bebe, guess you may have heard the 08 Alpha TBs will be heavier for the V8. not sure of the pricing, but wanted to highlight it in the cases you opted for those over aftermarket ones;)

Looks good. Where did you get your shackles from? Custom made? Which leveling kit are you using?

TANDREW

Had the work done by Tire Pros / Big Johns performance. I had a leveling kit from ORU/Off Road Unlimeted installed and Bilstein shocks. They told me the shackles are the same as they use on the Jeep.

They look like the gold Warrior shackles (same as I have, but mine are grey).

Thanks Sewie,
Those shackles look strong. Just contacted them to see what they have for a application to a relatively stock H3 shackle lift without any add ons. They said they dont support Hummers...
It looks like they have a product that gives a 1/2" lift similar to what you used to get the 1.25". item WAR150
Do you think that shackle could be used without some of the bells and whistles needed to get the big lift?

Sewie,
What I want to find out is how far can a shackle lift go B4 any stock mods are required...
Like extending shocks
extending brake lines
Seen shacles offerd that give anywhere from 1/2" lift at the rear bumper to several inches. Trying to understand what can be added without changing anything off but the stock shackle.
Thx

Sewie
03-13-2008, 08:03 PM
The stock shocks don't have much travel to begin with, so I would consider new shocks after even a 1" lift. Just be sure to also check the compressed length so they don't bottom out. The stock shocks and swaybar links should be fine with 1/2" lift. Bebe is running the Samco shackles (3/4" lift) with the Fox shocks with no problems.

With what I've done, the brake lines may need to be lengthened but I haven't done it yet. There is a bit of play in them at stock height.

From what I've read, anything beyond 2" of lift and you need to start worrying about things like pinion angle.
