Which actually reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask:

Are there 2 speakers in the back, behind the 2nd row seat? If so, where are they mounted?

I've been curious if the design of the SUT will mean less speakers or relocated speakers from that rear area.

In the very back, on each side of the rear door, facing forward.

Thanks Drtyfn, I'll have to keep a watch out for what they plan to do. I hope they relocate them instead of just scrapping them...

Phil D has a pic. Let me see if I can find it.

He said it was a 5 1/2.

I have been very satisfied with the Hummer sound system, I have yet to be able to turn the volumn pass the mid mark. We have a very solid door bewteen the garage and the kitchen, cannot hear if the garage door is opening or closing or if a Hummer is driving into the garage. But my wife can certainly hear the music and the bass from the Hummer through the door, even when the volumn is only at 35%-40%.

And are the two little grills above the drivers head both mics? Or 1 microphone and 1 little speaker (#9, #9, #9)?
And BTW, what changes when you change the loudness settings to "driver" or "spacious"? Left-right, front-rear loudness?

Albie, Are you saying you're spatially challenged? When you walk into a room do small objects fly off of tables and start orbiting you like little moons?

NO NO still on the power diet. 19.6 pounds + or - 1/2 this accounts for the #2.

I found it

Apologies for the delay Albie, but I had to venture into the loft to find it. Here it is, the speaker is about 5" diameter, and it seems to use a bunch of tunnels in the box, kind of like the Wave technology Bose have.

Well compared to my Harmon kardon systems in my other cars, the bose system really falls short. But it really isn't bad at all. The sub sucks, but what can you do. I will tell you that after I put the brush guard on my truck, the wind noise has increased substantially. I need to turn the music up now... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hello everyone,
The sub is located right behind the center console. It is roughly 5 inches in diameter. I was thinking of installing a new head unit (Kenwood 911) and leaving the 8 speakers alone and just replace the subwoofer. I want to add a 12 inch sub in the back and an amplifier to power it. Do you think that makes sense?
Thanks for the help.

Phild when you take it out what do you do with the wires? I mean do you cap them or turn off the amp. Thinking about doing the same

I believe there is a connector plug.

When the guys who installed my system handed me the Bose subwoofer, I thought it was part of the air conditioner.....Seriously.

The stock system sounds much better than many stock GM systems, but compared to some of the other higher-end car stock systems, I too think it is weak.
