Hello,
Got my H3 last week and have a few basic questions. When I set my head light to "auto" they are on all the time. My dealer said they should only turn on at night or low light conditons..does this mean my sensor is bad or is there a settting I don't know about. Basically, I want to set it on auto and not have them on during the day. Second, my base stereo always reverts back to "jazz" on the eq setting..when I restart the H3, anyway to program it so it stays on last eq setting used?
Thanks.

No help on the stereo, but the 2007 daytime running lights are the headlights (early 2006 models used the marker lights for DRLs). Are you sure it's the headlights on and not the DRLs (DRLs are dimmer than the full headlight setting)? You can check by turning on the fog lamps - if they are on (the button switch has an indicator light) during the day then you might have something blocking the light sensor (passenger side of the dash). You can also check the dash lights, they will come on when the headlights come on (check for dimming of the radio display).
If your headlights really aren't on, you are SOL, deal with it :) or turn the switch.

thanks,
nothing on the dash covering the sensor. My bmw has an auto function and I basically don't have to touch the knob anymore, the head lights are off during the day and on at night. I thought that was the way my H3 was suppoosed to work. Maybe I'll take it back to the dealer and have them take a look. Just wanted to make sure that the auto funtion is supposed to work as I described above.

Your Auto switch is probably working fine. It is just your DRLs that are on. Looks like the headlights are on, but it is really just the DRL's inside your headlight assembly. Look closer. For instance, have some look at the headlights and then manually turn on the headlights and see what they do. It is supposed to be that way.

Let me know if you figure out how to turn the orange DRL's off permanently. Fortunately the override switch was provided to turn them off temporarily.

My 2007 does the same. The daytime running lights are always on in the auto setting. Manually turn them off "auto" to not have them on during the day. At night the auto setting will rely on the sensor, then you can use your fog lights (or in the manual mode). Mine seems to have a wierd transition around dusk but that's a different issue....As far as the radio goes, mine seems to stay set properly. I do use the custom setting though, it could be the memory wire is hooked up wrong, but I doubt it if your stereo keeps the correct time on the clock.
