Hey, here's a pic of our latest mod. It was super difficult getting the packaging off, but I think it looks real cool on the work bench. What do you all think?

Ken,
I actually almost bought that one. That is the cobra right? I wound up buying a cobra handheld so I wouldn't have to deal with an antenna. If there is any "drilling" involved, make sure you measure at least twice!! I'd like to see some pictures of the unit and the antenna mount after it is installed.

nice kit. you may want to consider loosing the spring mount for that firestick. they are so thick the wind will blow them at a back angle, causing you to loose valuable distance in how far you can send and recieve.....

DAMN!!! I just got home and realized I have to turn the page. CRAP and thanks alot!!!

Ok, I think I'll have to actually put the CB in the truck to make it work. Crapdamn...

As to the spring, well hell, everything else is screwed up now. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Just remember Ken, in spite of what some may say, you really do need to tear out the center console and dash to install two wires and a coax. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I installed mine with out creating any new screw marks. Definitely install under the center console but also you can put the cable under the seat then place it under the easily removed plastic piece at the bottom of the rear door entry (lots of space), then run wire in to the rubber seal along the back door, bring up to roof and attach to antenna(s). Works fabulously and is very clean.

The hand held is placed to the right of the steering wheel where the original screw is in the dash!!j Haha!!

I'll get pics if you want them!!

I never touched the front market lights but I'm not certain where your antennas are going to be? Best place for them, from what I've been told, are in the rear of the vehicle. Could be wrong though! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

No. Most of the work was done by the previous owner. I cant afford to add all that stuff, the wood trim alone is about 2700.00. I've added sattelite radio and now the GPS to the inside, there's really not much that can be done to the interior, its already so modified. I dont know who your wheeling with, but it doesnt take that long. Thats only about 45 minutes of work for me. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Now, that alternator problem is another story... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Hey Ken,
I didn't take any pictures of the install process, but it was real simple, I tied the hot wire to a rocker switch hot side that I have for my K.C. Lites, and ground the C.B. to the ground on same switch. I mounted the box part of the C.B. wiring to the underside of the firewall behind the console with self tapping screws, so that it is out of the way, and conceld very well. I installed a spliter on the coax, and ran the coax out the firewall thought the wiring harness grommet and ran the coax down both sides of the frame to also hide the coax. I used heavy duty zip ties to hold it in place, and came out at the rear bumber on both side between the bumber and the rubber seal that is flexable. (This is the only place that the coax is even visible....also I used a grey coax cable, that is so close to the pewter color of my rig that it is hardly even noticed.) Once up from the bumber, I used simple alum. ant. mounting brackets that I painted blk and bolted them to my rear tail light guards. Installed sticks, zip tied the coax up neatly at rear tail light gaurds, and the job was finished. Took all of about 1 hour to do. By running two coax to each stick, I was able to get a longer run of cable,(About 18' of cable both side)so my reception is great! The only problem with the whole install was where to install the hand-held...I have my cell phone installed where I would like to place it...So I have a new cell phone mount on order, and when it comes in, I will install the mic. in its new home!, but for now, the mic is laid over the console.
