I think it should be "part want" - you don't really "need" it per say.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

There was a priest, a rabbi and a black part...

Do you have what I need?

Yea, you got me. I would like to know if anyone out in hummerland has the black part (part number and name unkown) that the rear license plate is attached to, and that the license tag light is affixed, available. Is that better?

Also, that is attached to an Hummer H2 made by GM.

rodster and TXSUT have plastic dipped their chrome brows. Ask them how - it is like rubber coated.

PS: I think factory is silver or chrome only.

you can see TXSUT's here:

Take the rear tag assembly off the tire, flip it over and you'll see four clips that hold the chrome part on. Remove the clips, remove the chrome.

Rough up the chrome with some fine grit sandpaper then shoot it with a few coats of Plasti Dip, which you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. It will match the black finish of the license holder perfectly.

Doesn't that stuff peel off relatively easily?

So far so good. I've pressure washed it and it's been in the Vegas sun. That said, I don't put many miles on the truck so I guess time will tell.

One thing I did that I think helped was I shot the front and turned the corner and partially painted the back. The idea was to not have a loose edge exposed.

Hmmm... Sounds good. I do use PlastiDip on all kinds of stuff. Good to know that it stands up to pressure washing. If my mirrors start chipping I'll redo them with that stuff.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I used to have a chrome piece, I had the dealer switch it out under warranty and replace it with a black one...It was loose and scratching the paint.
