View Full Version : Starbucks Cups "way I see it" rant

WTF is the deal with just about every Starbucks cup lately being anti-religion?

For example cup #247 written by Bill Scheel a customer from London, Ontario: "Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for a power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophies we need to endure."

It's as if the folks selecting the topics for the cups are either trying to generate controversy, or have some huge bias against organized religion? Of course they include a disclaimer that it is the author's opinion only.

There are plenty of other topics out there to emblazon on a damn Starbucks cup, yet each morning I'm treated to "heaven is overrated" or some other such writing stating, hey you follower- you can't think for yourself.

Well I'm about to "think for myself" and quit buying their product if they insist on continually touting a negative bias against religion. I'm all for various viewpoints and open discussion, but the one sided flow of anti-religious crap is getting old for this daily customer.

Put anything else on there- history, poetry, art, damn- anything but a continual anti-religion message.

If they were smart, they would run a page at a time of a new book that you could only read on their cups, or maybe an unreleased chapter of a popular book created just for their marketing. What do I know though :shhh:

Why do you read the cup?

When I go to StarBucks, which i like, I carry in a copy of the Old Testament to read...

Grande Non Fat Latte w/1 splenda at 180 degrees f

I don't even have to talk anymore, just go to the drive through, they see the DUCK and say "drive up please"

kinda like "CHEERS", " where everybody knows your name"

A drive thru location would be nice but we've got to walk in to ours. The staff knows my drink order and how it changes on the weekend, it's the stupid slanted prose on the cups that bothers me.

I grew up reading everything while I ate, cereal boxes, newspapers, ect- it's programmed into me and if there is text visible while I'm eating breakfast I'm going to read it no matter what it is. :o

Do you ever get up to San Clemente? I would go to this small lil cofffe place at the bottom of the hill next to the Train station... That place was the best.
Man I need to get out of FL and back to San Clemente for awhile.

That seals it for me, no more Starbucks! I always make them mad anyway because I just want my coffee like my women (strong, hot, and dark):D , I'm not into the other mocha-frappa-latte wussy crap. I see why everyone puts so much other stuff in the coffee; when you drink it straight, it tastes like shyte! McDonalds or Circle K is cheaper and taste better!

As long as DRTY has a gun I feel safe. :D

As far as the cups go, don't worry about it, you're the only one who reads them anyway. Coffee cups are for drinking coffee. I don't pour my coffee into a newspaper either, I read it.
