Everyone -

I was in Nothern New Jersey this past Sunday June 10 at the Secaucus/Meadowlands AmeriSuites.

About 30-45 minutes after I checked around 4-4:30pm someone stole my 2005 Slate Blue SUT from the AmeriSuites parking garage, it was up on the top level.

This is my baby and any information would be greatly appreciated.

It has OnStar, but they said it was disabled, there was no shattered glass so I don't know how they got in and started the Hummer since it was locked and I have the key.

No security cameras were around to capture anything, and it wasn't towed.

It has chrome accents, MD Plates, and 20" MC2's on Nitto Terra Grapplers.

It does not have the spare tire on the back or roof racks.

Thanks,

Greg

Damn man sorry about the loss. Hopefully you got full coverage and worst case scenario you can rebuild an 08.

It has OnStar, but they said it was disabled

Ok....so silly question - but, can the thief easily disable the OnStar?

One of the main reasons I signed up for another year of OnStar is so they could track the car if it was ever stolen. It never occurred to me that the theif could disable it. Or were you having a problem with the OnStar before the car was stolen??

A pro cannot be stoped peroid. they know where to cut it out.
Onstar will slow down or stop the stupid ones.

There is a 20/20 show a wile back showing a pro with a small drill device cutting the locks out of a club, then into the ignition with a Genie Key.
gone in 60 seconds for real. Sorry dude. Get a 08 with a pageing viper system well hidden or the best and cheapest is a fuel kill switch hidden

Interesting! So much for my confidence in OnStar assisting in getting it back for me. :(

I always thought onstar could track mine down if it was stolen as well, now i see that wont really help anymore. Unless there not pros. Sorry about that man, hope you find it soon!!!

If a pro targets your vehicle he has a home for it in advance ,and chances are onstar, viper or even a kill switch aint going to help .you can put on a tracker and it will dial your cell phone and tell you that it has moved from the spot you parked it and you can track it on your computer ,it will give you speed and direction and a gps fix within 3 feet .. we use them in the used car biz on high risk credit roach's.aprox $300.00 for the unit and a small monthly service fee to track it . it has a battery back up that will last a week or so . my buddy Cliff will sell you the latest all digital tracker if you wan't one let me know and I will give you his number .

OnStar - I had my 2000 Yukon stolen on April Fools Day in 2002. At the time my subscription ran out but I called and paid the $199 Safety Plan and they located my vehicle in 5 minutes....that bad part is they won't tell you where it is but rather call the Police to investigate. I was able to recover the vehicle within 2 hours of finding out it was stolen so that day I loved Onstar. But in the original post he stated it was disabled not deactivated so I agree it is long gone if they knew to cut the Onstar off.

Did you have the cheap GM plastic Door buckets? That was my first mod on my last two. It doesn't take more then a screwdriver to open the door with the GM plastic buckets. Need to get it done on my SUT.

We also had our Accord stolen on the same day and it took 21 days to recover....I was to stop by State Farm the next day to pick up my check. Ended up being Teenagers stealing garage door codes and taking cars at night. They hit 6 houses on April Fools. The worst part ....State Farm was to pay me 17K and I ended up selling it a few months later for 11K.

Onstar is disabled by just pulling 1 fuse. Swap the wires with a different fuse position so if a theif pulls it the onstar stays on! Still they would see the green light by the onstar buttons, but it may stump them. I have a foolproof way I have protected cars, always works.....theif ALWAYS gives up. Think fueses.....

Its not so much making the car stealproof, its making the car not start and only you know what the cause is. There are many ways to do this.

That's a Bummer Greg! Oddly enough I feel the need to apologize
The bad news it's gone and on a ship or boxed up and on ebay!
The good news the 08's kick arse! :D
As for On-Star simply disconnecting the battery disables On-Star :giggling: or any Alarm without Battery back-up

Sorry to say this, but if the thieves took the time to disable OnStar then your rig is already chopped and the parts are gone or it's in a cargo container bound for overseas.:( I'll be very surprised if it's found in one piece.

Once its stolen You are probably better off not recovering it. After a couple of days there is no telling what kind of internal damage they can do ie tranny motor transfer case whatever. get your insurance settlement and start over Sounds like a link with hotel. Regards The rebel

Sorry to hear about it dude....

Onstar is a waste. There are a lot of reasons that I won't go into.

Hope you like your new '08.

I was really unhappy when I sunk the titanic (my H3), however, I am much happier in the H2, so it all worked out for the better. I'm sure it will be the same for you.

Good Luck

Sorry to hear your Hummer was stolen. I'm reading each thread because I thought OnStar would be the answer also. You must be sick and I hope you get a new one from your insurance company. I just put a "writer" on my insurance last month with GEICO because I put over 10K on mine this year. Kept all my receipts and took pictures. It did add $25.00 more a month to my policy but I was thinking there was no way they would replace it if totaled or stolen.

 Wouldnt it be easy to cut the antenna off, getting to the fuse will take a little time.
