Man, all the major cities in Australia are in there......

#9 Sidney (New South Wales)

#17 Melbourne (Victoria)

#21 Perth (Western Aus.)

#29 Adelaide (South Australia)

#31 Brisbane (Queensland)

..but they forgot "Cairns" & "Hobart" :fdance: , and nothing from the "Northern Territory"

If I have to pick, I'll pick "CAIRNS" - the Great Barrier Reef..:jump:

I have to say it's a worthless list when Washington D.C. is on there. Who could possibly even claim that D.C. is better than Denver in any of the folowing categories: climate, healthcare, crime rate, education and wealth?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Cities_by_Crime_Rate

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0108505.html

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0108620.html

D.C.'s per capita income is slightly higher, but I'll bet Denver's median income is higher than D.C.'s--as the latter is largely very poor with a lot of really rich dues. No one would ever voluntarily put their kids in D.C. public schools. The list is a farce.

It's interesting that, other than the four Japanese cities, the only two cities on the list that are not predominantly populated by whites are Singapore and Washington. And all six of the non-white cities are in the bottom 20 of that list.

People from Wellington are extremely white. Like bleach white. What's up with that?:D

I thought my brother married an albino but after visiting, I realized they were all like that.:D

But that place is beautiful.

No, given than it's got Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland too, I'd guess their prime criteria was 'Is medical marijuana legal' or maybe 'Did they get good picks in this years NBA draft'

Can't argue though, after living in various places, I'd stay in the PNW over just about anywhere else in the US/Canada...

They're all trying to get to Canada. About halfway across they realize that it's just too far to walk and end up settling down as far as California.:giggling:

Seriously, I work in DC, but live 20 miles from there because it's such a nasty, crime-infested sh!thole. Aside from all the accolades, if Mercer thinks DC is one of the best places to live in the U.S. or world, they can't possibly know what they are talking about.

It's a compilation of MANY factors. The crimerate may be up but the healthcare, education and other factors most likely played a big role for that ranking.

The per capita factor plays big also.

But ask them. Mercer probably has over 1000 Marinehawk like brainiacs working for them. I'm sure they would know this formula.:p

If you believe in Mercer, I invite you to send one of your children to a public school or hospital in DC or hike them accross much of the city. Though, I really hope you don't for their sake. As far as education, maybe they just mean universities. But that doesn't significantly make life better for non-college students. Unless you like living in a Finnish sauna, the weather here sucks. I guess, when I walk outside in the 93 degree temperatures and 90% humidity, and immediately want to die, I can realize that it is, in reality, very comfortable because the 15,000 Mercer smart dudes know DC weather better them me.
