Well, after 15 years of marriage and 5 kids my better half gave me a wonderful Father's Day gift! It's a weekend convertible (http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/ew/topic.asp?id=64522L#)!

I just bought a prestine Porsche Boxster with Sport Package. The original owner sold it to me with only 29K miles and it's a Washington State car (http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/ew/topic.asp?id=64522L#) so no sun damage. The interior and leather looks almost brand new! After looking at 16 Boxsters (most transplants from California) I decided to look for a local car with less sun/heat issues. I finally found one and it even has an extended comprehensive warranty until the end of '08.

Needless to say, I am very excited. I'm comforted in knowing that I have a warranty but is there anything I should know about these models, in particular a 1999 model? Are there any other good forums for Boxster owners? Where can I get the best prices on Porsche (http://suvworld.tenmagazines.com/ew/topic.asp?id=64522L#) accessories?

You're going to need some beefier tires if you plan to take that off-road! :giggling:

Nice, you'll love it. My dad's had 3 Porsches and is now on his 4th their incredible cars. We never had to take it in for service for anything other than new tires, or an oil change. Something that looks great on the Boxsters is you can get the same rims you have on it now, but in a dark grey color. Makes it look much more sportier. My dads are grey, but we dont have a boxster, and my nighbor has grey on a boxster and it looks fantastic.

I'm a owner of 04 Boxster S and used to have a 98 Boxster and a 90 Carrera 2.

Things to be aware of with 99's are slipped cylinder sleeves and Rear Main Seal oil leaks. The slipped sleeve can be very expensive obviously. The reason why 98 and 99 Boxsters are so cheap is because of the possibility of major manfunctions (probably under 10% chance). In the case of 98's pourous blocks, 99's slipped sleeves, both RMS leaks, misc. oil leaks, convertible top mechanism failures make up the most expensive things that can go wrong.

The early Boxsters are some of the most fun cars of that 986 series (97-04). They are the lightest, loudest, more like a pure sports car.

You will enjoy this car! Congrats. I miss the purity of my 98 Boxster even those the 04 S model is faster and more refined.

Btw, what is the warranty company?
