I built this for going up the legendary Dalton Highway in Alaska, where my friends all had busted their windshields. The big trucks roll by at 70 MPH and throw rocks galore. We got hit alot, but nothing even dented it. Any time you have to follow another truck on the trail, it would come in handy.
It's all welded steel and then powder coated. On the bottom, it bolts to the metal cowling with the plastic fake "shock" covers removed; there's a socket that bolts in and then a locking pin provides a way to quick release. On the top it bolts to a roof rack or cross bar. I had it bolted to my GOBI rack mounts, so you'll have to top mount.
It cost me about $500 to get it made. Anybody interested?
