I am getting ready to start building slantbacks for SUT's. Here is a pic. of one that I made just to see what it would look like. This one is made out of cardboard, but the ones that I am making will be made out of aluminum. They will also have a glass window in the back!! Let me know what you think!

That looks great! You should make the slant back out of powder coated diamond plate, that would look awsome! Almost make's me wish I had a SUT instead of an SUV.

I will be making my first two starting next week!! So we will see how they turn out. The guy that I have helping me build them is one of the best fabricators I have ever met, so I think they are gonna turn out amazing! We have also decided that we are going to be using powder coating instead of anodizing them!!
When I am done with the first ones could definitally make one out of aluminum diamond plate! If someone really wanted one!

You should look into sponsoring on the forum. With that, I bet you could sell quite a few if priced OK.
The one Ken posted looks to be of great quality and easy to take off. Your SB looks to be a little more secure from a lockable point of view.
Send our mods a PM of your intentions on this forum. This topic has been brought up before, so I'd hate to see it looked down upon before it gets going.
Good luck on your project.

The fabric slant back is pretty cool but it kinda reminds me of the vinyl bed covers for lowriders. On the other hand, a metal slant back that blends with the truck and looks like it came from the factory would be awesome. The idea and the picture almost makes me wish i had a slant back. With a reasonable price point i would have to think there is a market for this product.

thanks ken, have about 15 out. i think there are 5 in va, 7 in fla and 3 somewhere else.....had one issue with the glue that holds the 2' wide velcro on the truck....now we use a different primer to prepare the surface......

Does look nice
Suppose its all down to the finish .
If it doesnt look factory made it sort of will defeat the whole point of it.
You got balls trying.

1 question, how would it open? Would you hinge it at the top/side, etc? Just curious....Jamie

Right now I am just waiting for the material to come in so that we can start making our first two!!! I will be taking pictures as we make them. I will def. post pictures of our progress.
The hatch will be the same width as the tailgate, and will hinge at the top.
We are still working on setting the price for them. We are using the highest quality everything when we build our slantbacks because we want to make the best product possible! Thus, they are going to be cheap to build. But it is looking like they will be affordable!!
I'll keep you posted!
