This makes no sense! If you are going from some random ass vehicle to a Hummer, it's hardly a convert.. it's a purchase! A convert would require some sort of "saw the light" moment. If you keep this up every Hummer owner is going to check in on this thread and it's going to get too big and crash the server. :twak:

Oh yes there is. If you go from an Escalade to an H2 because it looks better, it's just a purchase. If you go from being an Escalade fanatic to an H2 fanatic because you had your doubts about it's ride and then a friend gave you a ride in one and "showed you the light".. then it's a convert.

I think the following is responsive:

Well, I started out with a Red Ryder tricycle; then a lime green Schwinn two-wheeler; then a Mongoose; then an awesomely-modified 1974 Chevy Monte Carlo until I smashed it drunk into another car at Broadway and Douglas at 3 am at age 17; then a 1982 Ford Escort (what a let down from the previous machine I destroyed); sold Escort when I went to war when Gunny Sgt told me that we wouldn't be back for at least 2-1/2 years (back in five months after the smacking down the world's 4th largest-but most hapless-army); then a 1991 Ford Ranger (last Ford ever) to run my house-painting bis, which allowed me to finish college; then (after previous sh!tmobile had about 20 problems in the first 60K miles and crapped out on the fukcing middle of the 5-mile long I-10 bridge going into Sin City from the east requiring me, my ex-girlriend, her sister, and her friend, and her dog all to have to ride in a Honda Civic Del Sol for the remaining 3 miles of bridge) a 1996 Saturn thingy; then a 1999 Trooper; then a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 HD CC; then I converted to an H2.

Is that what you were looking for.;)

Jeez Tim, I took the new rig up wheeling in the mountains behind my house! Steep and loose dirt and rock, and way too many tight trails lined with scrub oak. The H2 doesn't turn as tight as the H3 and damn this thing is tall! But the H2 kicks ass with power! Consider me a convert! :beerchug:

I also have a new found respect for how clean you had the truck! I used to think it took a long time to clean the 3. This fawkin truck is huge! Took twice as long to clean it.

The release of the H2 is what got me interested in HUMMERs, so my first truck was an '03. I enjoyed taking it to a few dealer-sponsored Hummer Happenings but nothing really serious. It had the typical bugs of a first year model, so I quickly began thinking about trading for a newer model.

About that same time, HUMMER came out with some sweet deals on leftover H1's, so I jumped on a new '02 H1 wagon. Problem is that it had been sitting around on the dealer's lot for more than two years and started having problems right away. I should have stuck them out, but I got nervous and dumped it off on the first buyer who came around (they are hard to find by the way). I still regret selling that truck. It really was the deal of a lifetime.

Anyhow, the SUT had just come out at that time, so I decided to give it a try. More HUMMER Happenings with it and a little more serious action at Windrock and Kinzalow's. It was fun and I loved the open back window, but I never used the bed and missed the rear space of the SUV, so I traded back in on a year-end deal for another H2.

I guess I just got bored with it after having one before and still missed the H1, so I made up my mind that I would buy another new H1 after the prices settled down -- then HUMMER announced the end of H1 production. I bit the bullet and bought the Alpha thinking I better get one while I could find exactly what I wanted.

I've had it now a year, and sadly I've done less with it than my other trucks -- but I'm hoping that will change. To be honest, I have thought of trading a few times, but I'm really trying to break that habit. Maybe another wagon would be nice... For now, anyway, it's a keeper.

I'm very upset about the off topic replies on this post. This WAS a serious post! I was doing some research for a private research Company.

I expect thes comments from the H3'ers, but come on guys/ girls, I need acurate comments/ opinions on the ORIGINAL topic. I have to put video together for the next project. Please update your replies if you have switched from one of the examples.

For those that have answered my request, thank you. I have already entered your replies into my excell sheet.

Have you converted from:

H3 to H2
H1 to H2
Jeep to H2

I'm not after what model chevy/ ford, moped you drove before hand. I am interested in if you converted from one of the above mentioned examples and why you made the change.
