After purchasing my new H3 Tactical Edition, I headed to Louisiana to work for two weeks (I'm a professional helicopter pilot, flying the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico).
Within 200 miles, I got a Check Engine light, which Onstar told me was related to the Transmission Control Unit.
The vehicle would not properly dump into overdrive, so my first thousand miles were EXPENSIVE in gas!
Long story short, I took the car to the dealer in Tallahassee upon my return home, and they put me in a rental Cadillac overnight while they diagnosed. It turned out to be some solenoid in the transmission system that they said they had seen problems with on a number of GM's.
Replaced, and on my way with no more XMSN problems.
NOW... in the last week or so, I've begun noticing a very mild bump/thump/click/noise that translates through my steering column, especially at low speeds. I can sort of feel it through the steering wheel, and can hear a slight thumping that radiates throughout the column. It is not the adjustable wheel, and clearly not caused by a loose column either. I would guess that there is something a little loose in the front axle or front wheels that is feeding back through the steering system.
It is not especially alarming... just really annoying. At about 20Mph on a smooth road, it can actually start almost ratcheting in speed.. whereas at higher speeds it is just the "bump/click/thump" (don't know how else to describe it) sound and feel.
Maybe the fact that I'm a heavy helicopter pilot makes me hypersensitive to something that is normal, but I thought I'd ask here amongst you H3 experts!
Any ideas?
Cheers
