Man that fu%kin plsses me off right there. And I love how the c unt author of the story (Allison Klein) has to state:

"So he parked the seven-foot-tall behemoth on the street in front of his house and smiled politely when his eco-friendly neighbors looked on in disapproval at his "dream car."

Stupid c unt:rant:

It IS a freakin behemoth. That's what I love about it!

I feel bad for the dude tho. Whatever happened to this being a free country? What gets me - you never see UPS trucks with their sides carved up and tires slashed. And you know they get worse gas mileage than Hummers.

I guess I keep forgetting that we live in a FREE country .. the U.S.A., where everyone is able to buy whatever they want, live where they want, practice their own religion, etc., etc., etc. What does it matter to anyone what someone drives?! If an Escalade, Excursion, Navigator would have been parked out there, nothing would have happened. I don't smurk at people when I see them driving a Prius .. and I don't smurk at people driving Excursions ... I just enjoy my own vehicle and drive along with the rest. This story makes me sick. Now the guy is afraid to think of what may happen if he gets it repaired and parks it back in front of his home? If he doesn't repair it, then he's giving in to all of the jerks in his neighborhood. Freedom of choice .. he can, as we ALL can, drive what we want! You know that ALL of the neighbors know who bashed in his SUT .. they probably paid two of the neighborhood teens to do it in the middle of the night. The one who witnessed it was probably the lookout. There, I've said my piece ... stepping down off of my soapbox now.

OMG those pics make me sick. I think a rally of Hummers up and down his street one day would give him great moral support and let the local treehuggers know that others are keeping an eye on THEM! I'd be there if I lived on the east coast... I'm in S. Cal. Even if a few of you guys who live out that way made a visit on one day would be better than none.

I heard of such incidents in Calif but found it hard to believe. It's America people. We are free to do what we please. This is nothing less than environmental terrorism. By the way, I am and have been an environmentalist since the 60's. Yes, I was at the first Earth Day, am a Vegetarian, belong to the Sierra Club and PETA, and also the NRA. I recycle, compost, and eat organic products. I also just got myself a beautiful 2007 Escalade. My business, not yours. Come to my house in Philadelphia and try to vandalize my Escalade or attack me in any other way for what I legally own and do. I'll be glad to introduce you to Smith and Wesson and we can all discuss it!

thats just wrong...

to cause that much damage they would have had to be onsite for a few minutes and that would make one hell of alot of racket...yet none of the neighbors reported this? Sad state of affairs this world has come to.

Sounds like a good way to get back at them....a Hummer party at his house!

Hope we can find him and bring him into the forum!

I'm environmentally inclined and think what these people did is tragic in more ways than one. It's completely improper and unforgivable that someone does something like this to another person's property. I hope that these folks are found and that they encounter consequences for their actions.

Secondly, if I were the guy with the Hummer, I'd be uneasy living at this residence with my car. That's gotta be a horrible feeling to endure on a daily basis.

Thirdly, these jokers have given all the rest of us a very bad image. What they did is no way to get out a message in a way that will have any kind of a positive impact on their cause. So, I hope you don't paint us all with such a very broad brush. We're not all like that. I'm enraged by this.

When I joined this forum I joined specifically to disprove a comment that I read about the Prius being more environmentally damaging than a Hummer. I've come to find that you're all great folks here. We may have different priorities, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate you guys. Please don't generalize us as I've found that I certainly shouldn't be generalizing all of you.

You guys have proven no better than the vandals that you are so disgusted by. They treat the cars of other people they don't appreciate like S*** and you find it appropriate to treat people that don't drive the same car as you like S***. All of this occurring because someone doesn't drive the same car. It would be laughable if it weren't so unbelievable and such a poor reflection on humanity these days.

Actually, I think most of the frustration comes not from having different tastes in vehicles, but instead from the hypocrisy of the enviromentalists and the left demonstrated on a near daily basis.

I mean how many vehicles are out there on the road that get equal to or less mpg than the hummer, cost equal to or more than the hummer, and have an equal to or bigger footprint than the hummer? And it's the hummer that is evil?

I may have many reasons why I think the Subaru or Range Rover you drive is an ugly POS, but I don't feel I have the need or 'right' to vandalize it. So your car gets 30 mpg and you commute 50 miles a day to work. I ride my bicycle to work and use my H2 for pleasure putting 8,000 miles a year on it. So who has the bigger impact on the environment?

When I joined this forum I joined specifically to disprove a comment that I read about the Prius being more environmentally damaging than a Hummer.

Well, you havent disproved anything. What happens to the batteries that are so toxic? Put them in yucca mountain right? Why is the lifespan only 100,000 miles? Thats not very sustainable. They may cost less to operate than a hummer (MAY b/c I havent researched it yet, and they havent been out long enough to see long term maint.) but they still use fossil fuel and extremely toxic and environmentally un-friendly batteries. Also they have extremely limited capabilities and space. They simply are not up to the task for many people who tow, haul, have big families, etc. You probably have to get furniture and other large items delivered right? Well I can guarantee the truck it comes to your house on gets worse mileage than my H2. So why does everyone want to compare the h2 to the prius so often? The prius is not the answer to pollution, and I believe all they do is make some people feel less guilty due to their faux eco friendly image. Hummer hate does the same thing, falsely releves guilt.

First, hanks for being so diplomatic. I haven't been well received on this forum even though I've tried the diplomatic approach myself. I appreciate your civility.

The Prius lifespan of 100,000 miles is erroneous. There is a cab fleet in Canada with well over this mileage that's operating on their initial battery packs. Though this isn't an issue yet, the batteries are recycled and the manufacturer offers an incentive for compliance. They're big on keeping these out of the waste stream. And no, so far I've picked up a 10 foot oak tree and a picnic table from Home Depot and have packed it in the car. The car is very accommodating as the back seats fold down. The tow capacity, however, is much lower than the Hummer. I agree that everyone has different needs for a car and that smaller cars aren't for everyone. I do, however, think our perception of what we need is a little skewed. Decades ago, people got along just fine with small cars and small houses.

So far as your last statement, I'm not sure that their acts relieved anyone's guilt. As you can see by the replies on this thread, all they've done is to serve more divisiveness in this country.......over a car. The irony of it is that now the Hummer owner has to go purchase extensive materials to fix his car. That's not really what typical eco people want. I'm not really sure of what they thought they'd accomplish doing something like this. In my mind, I always wonder why people like this get attention. Keep stuff like this out of the media and don't give people like this a platform.

And please know it wasn't me that compared the Prius to the Hummer. They're entirely different cars with different purposes and as such, there can never be a true comparison.

Exactly! How many H2's sold in the us last year? About 17,000 I think I read. Compare that to the ... i dunno... 125,000 F150s and another 125,000 Exporers. I think there are A LOT more other vehicles doing much more damage then H2s!!!

Thank you for conceding that there are different people with different needs out there and that comparing the two is unproductive. I agree that this stunt will only make the greenies look mean and intolerant of others' preferences. It is very ironic!

I still am not convinced that the prius is so "green". The batteries and their current methods of production are the least bit "green", especially when you consider the importation/exprotation (the fuel used during this), and the toxic waste produced.

I'm sure there are some that will exceed the 100,000 mile but the average lifespan is what matters. That means the prius would have to be recycled nearly three times (and use all of the energy to build it back again, and the batteries, etc.) to be on par with the Hummer and other domestic trucks who's lifespans are nearly 300,000 miles.

The prius costs less for the end user at the gas pump, but other than that, I don't see any real advantage to it over a comparable strictly gas powered econo box. I am glad you are happy with the Prius and hopefully your are glad that we are happy with our Hummers! It takes all kinds to make the world go around! Peace.

Unfortunately the stuff mined for the Prius batteries is also mined (to a much greater degree) for a ton of other stuff we buy. But I do recognize that the Prius (let alone any other car) can never truly be "green".

The Prius is going on nearly 10 years of production and I haven't heard of one battery pack that has had to be replaced. But yes, the technology can be considered "in it's infancy" and only time will tell as to average life span. That's my gripe about the reports out there to date. They're all based on assumptions and historical data.

Thank you, again, for your kindness. And may Peace be with you as well.

That's just not right. If we are planning to go out there, I'm in. NJ is just around the corner.

As for the vandals - I must say, someone to do that was definitely abused as a child. An acoholic uncle must of stuck it in their ass. They have small dicks, can't get it up and their girlfriend/wife has a mustache.:fdance:

Someone like this stands for NOTHING ENVIRMENTAL - THEY JUST GOT SOME F#*KING SCREWS LOOSE.
