I have been looking at the items on e-bay by putco and wonder if anyone has bought and used any of the products? I am llloking for the billet hood insert and wonder how good the 3m adhesive is on these units as well as the triple plated chroming on ABS plastic. Does it look as good as the factory items? How well do they hold up in the elements? Any help is appreciated!

I have never owned any Putco items but I do recall seeing in threads in the past that their products are crap. I could be wrong and if so, someone will correct me.

Remember when you could walk into a Chief auto parts or K-mart and see the Kraco radios? That's the best analogy of Putco quality. I'd be real skeptical on non-OEM chrome plated plastic--there's a lot of shiat out there right now.
Putco is famous for making the truck bedside diamond plate covers that don't fit right and fly off going down the road.

The only aftermarket accessories I put on my H3 is SMA. There stuff is more expensive, but it is good quality. Putco is crap.

wHAT ABOUT THIS ITEM? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hummer-H3-Chrome-Hood-Gr...temZ8041937363QQrdZ1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hummer-H3-Chrome-Hood-Grille-Cover-from-Real-Wheels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33654QQitemZ8041 937363QQrdZ1)
I got a Putco item as a gift from my employees once, and it wasn't anything I would have purchased myself. You get what you pay for ... Word on the street is, that SMA is not going to be around for much longer, so that doesn't make me confident buying there. I have used a few parts from Rancho, KC & RealWheels in the past, and was very pleased by the quality. I tend to go American made first, if possible. I just don't feel right about taiwan crap on an American Hummer. Just my opinion.

I purchased the chrome mirror covers from Adventure Accessories (Lynch Hummer in Mo). I am 100% sure these were manufactured by PUTCO and even had the same item number. There is no problem with the material quality is and the 3 M tape does work well. I was a bit disappointed that the mirror cover did not cover the side inside position near the windows. I called AA and they told me it was designed that way so there was no reflection back to the driver. That’s bull since the original chrome mirrors from Hummer are completely chrome.
Don’t be tricked by “select accessories sites”! I also purchase chrome covers for the air vents and also the billet around the front side fender light but not from AA. The air vent covers (not from AA) are the same material and chroming as the mirror covers (from AA).
Someone is manufacturing all the same products and most everyone sells them. Spend additional time looking at the product photos and you will see the same photos is used on many many websites.
PS: The tape is still holding great.
