detailing questions for another forum member

I have a freind who recently got the outside of his rig "turdy."

Although most of his scratches are currently concealed, he is looking for the easiest way to remove this turdy residue.


Also he is looking to bring back that new car smell instead of the current offending odor.

Has anyone dealt with this to date? What was the best way to do this?

I hope this member doesn't mind me posting this for him. I'm just trying to help. Please refrain from off topic posts on this one. I know you will all do your best to help out this long time member.

Bleach in water put on with a sponge by hand

Make sure the bleach water is completely removed. Blast the engine compartment, fender well, and anywhere else it might have gotten to.

The bleach will sanatize the exterior and remove the scent.

The bleach can be pretty diluted even 30:1, although given the situation I would make it strong just because it's so disgusting.

When I was younger, A friend had to do this when his ex-girlfriend used fresh cow manure to decorate his 1970 Charger (including the ait vents).

I had some old trucks on the farm that would get real nasty not even including the tractors etc. we cleaned every weekend with same method below.

We power washed as clean as possible and just for the off the wall idea of cleaning them more one time we used some GoJo hand cleaner with lanolin no grit and it cleaned them up nicely. We could not even see any scratchs for a while. Later we used some light rubbing compound that did a more permenate job on the scratchs.

Do not use hand cleaner with grit obviuosly. We also tried orange power GoJo and it worked a little better.

If your not comfortable with the bleach idea....you can allways use a couple cans of bug and tar remover diluted in a 5 gal bucket with soapy water, as far as the engine comp i'm stumped.
reguardless it's a sh1tty situation
