OK, so I just ordered my new Eaton front locker. I'm having it installed at 4 Wheel Parts in SLC. In case anyone is confused by my username, the locker is for the 06 H2 I bought from Timgco.

I was planning on running the Royal Purple gear oil in the front diff, but the techs there told me that due to the Rancho lift and the angle of the CV shafts, it could run dry with the heavier weight synthetic.

Anyone out there with a FabTech or Rancho lift - running synthetic in their front diff? Any problems?

I'm just gonna run the switch where the air ride button was located, because mine isn't equipped with that, and I saw that was where PhilD put his.

Anything else I should be aware of with this mod? Thanks.

Well not sure what they are telling you but the Royal Purple line has Synerlec which adheres to the parts so there is never a dry start. I would think it would be superior to regular gear lubes.

The Key
The key to Royal Purple's ability to outperform leading synthetic-based and mineral-based oils is Synerlec?, the cornerstone of Royal Purple's entire line of products. Synerlec? is Royal Purple's proprietary, lubricant additive technology that strengthens the oil film to provide extra protection and performance.
The Performance

By definition, film strength is a lubricant property that acts to prevent scuffing or scoring of metal parts. Film strength is measured by the American Society for Testing Materials' (ASTM) Timken OK Load test, which measures the heaviest load that a lubricant will sustain without scoring the test block. Royal Purple's film strength is up to 400 percent stronger than other synthetics, which greatly reduces wear and extends equipment life.

Royal Purple continuously protects because Synerlec? continuously adheres to metal parts ? even after shutdown. The thin film of oil that remains after shutdown preserves parts and provides instant lubrication at start-up until a full fluid oil film can be established.

The primary purpose of any lubricant is to reduce friction. Reductions in friction can substantially increase equipment performance and extend equipment life. As measured in the Falex No. 1 Friction Test, Royal Purple reduces friction up to 78.7 percent when compared against conventional lubricants.

i have been running it in mine with a 6" lift and a ARB locker for 10,000 miles and no problems here.

Often the diff manufactirers dont want you to use synthetic fluid because sometimes it actually lubricates too well. there are certain clearances that need to grab when they are intended to ans dont always when dynthetic gear lube is used. ohh and the weight of theoil has nothign do do wth it, 75-90 is 75-90. eric hayden the 4 wheel poarts head tech for thewhole chain gave about a 15 minute lecture on why the synthetic lube can cause clunking on occasion, it has somethign to do with it centrifugal force slingin the slipprier ouil away from certan surfaces when driving in the highway for ling distances. the best thing to do is ask the differential amnufacturer what they recomened.
