The salesman is telling me that they really dont negotiate very much on price. He is quoting a whopping $1500 off sticker on remaining 2007 inventory. I have never purchased a hummer before, but have bought other new GM vehicles, and there has always been lots of room for negotiation at the end of the model year. I am really looking for more like $7,000 off sticker, plus the 0% financing It sounds like a reasonable offer considering that the 08's are getting a little restyle and an upgraded engine.
Is the salesman working me over?

I would say so, unless the dealer has added a lot of items, then is willing to drop the sticker by $1500. I bought a new 07 in March and negotiated way more than $1500 off sticker, I did have to drive to pick it up, but it was worth the effort. Found mine on-line. There was a new 06 at the time I bought mine, at the local dealer, and they had added $29k in aftermarket BS.
Bottom line, educate yourself so that you have leverage when dealing. Good Luck!
Just tell him " call me when you get serious about selling the truck" and make sure his manager hears this, go home and wait a day and they WILL call you. just tell them you are working with another dealer and it looks like you are going to get the deal you are looking for somewhere else. they will fold. i used this method and saved an additional 7grand off of my last new car.

Call every dealer anywhere near you and get their prices, saving thousands of dollars is well worth a short drive.

Find a GMID vertificate from someone if you can. If not, there are pleanty of dealers that will sell at or just below invoice. With the 08's just starting to show up, the dealers will not want to hang onto the 07's. Deal with the sales manager only.

If you cannot get 9K or 10K off sticker, I'd be suprised. You won;t get that much off with 0%, but the cost saving mey be worth it if you can get a low enough rate.
Where are you located, some of the members here may be able to point you to a good contact.

I just bought one in June, my treatment was much different. You might try Jeff at Hummer of Cincinnati.
We chatted on the phone, I had done my home work, so right away he was talking invoice. I went over to look at the vehicle, I wanted a black SUT, he had one. We talked some more, and he asked if I worked for a GM supplier. Basically he did everything he could to get the price lower. Crazy thing was, I wasn't trying to negotiate, but I guess he figured out I was a serious buyer.
Bottom line, I got the gm supplier price and 0% for 60 months. Heck I was just going to pay for the thing, but with 0% I guess I'll just keep the money in the bank.
I think the supply is limited right now, but I'm pretty sure they would trade with another dealer to get you the truck you wanted.
I think mine MSRP'd at around 59+, I bought it for around 54K + tax

Yes! Dave at Dew Hummer. I just got a postcard in the mail from them, but I threw it away I think. They are trying to get rid of the 07s and are offering up to $20,000 off on all Hummer/Cadillac and 0% interest.

ha....maybe if they added them together....by the time they go through prep for delivery and dealer stock in, giving away every penny of profit (as if this made sense) this would eqate to a $15000 (plus or minus a couple of bucks) on a fully loaded H2. dont see it happening. make a reasonable offer and it will be accepted.

B4 you buy an 07 you should drive an 08 .if you consider the better trans ( 6 speed) and the fact the 08 will have more power and better fuel econemy and a hole list of other improvements you would be takeing it in the shorts if you couldn't save at least $15000.00 on an 07 over a 08. but what the f*ck do I know any way? I'm just a cranky old man that has been iin the car BIZ for 25 years.:shhh: me I'm keeping my 03 untill the 09 with the diesel comes out and than giveing the 03 to my son .

Obviously. But the card still says it. It's those magic words, "up to". ;)
I was able to get a huge chunk off the price of my 07 h2 lux back in Jan, even after the GMID discount. It was almost like they wanted to sell a truck unlike a lot of others I went to. So Dew Hummer gets my vote.

I'm also looking at purchasing a H2 SUT. It's funny, some dealers tell you they are not discounting the 07's at all and some are willing to negotiate. You really have to do you're homework before buying one of these. On a side note, I just checked www.carsdirect.com, and they are selling 07 SUT's at about $8k off MSRP.

Thanks for all the tips.
I dont think an 08 would be better for us, as we will put around 30k miles a year on it. It is for a salesperson's incentive program, so I expect more than average wear and tear. Also, the last thing my sales force needs is more HP.

when the 08's are out and the 09's are out, the 07's left in inventory still cost the dealer the same amount of money...they would sell them at 0 profit, but very few dealers sell cars for a loss....sorry, thats just the way it is...........

yes they will sell them at a loss ,if they have to . most dealers are Floor planing thier inventory and as such it cost them money to let them sit on the lot every month. also you are forgetting the DEALER Holdback money . GM will give the dealer any where from $700.00 to $1600.00 (on high line vehicles) in hold back money for every vehicle they sell . so when they tell you you bought at dealer cost ,guess again. just for your information new car dealers make a killing on the parts and service and in most cases they do real well on the trades too. in fact most new car dealers can sell at verry short margins because the parts and service will carry the whole opperation . been there done that ,now a used car lot is a whole differant ball game. :crying:
