Mine is on the dash, driver side corner by the windshield, behind the registration stickers.
That doesn't look right to me. I thought they were supposed to be outside on the roof???
But mine was a demo, so it may have been a temporary install. And it does cut out on me once in a while.

maybe the dealer did some fancy shmancy thing, why not ask them to move it back if your loosing reception?

I have aftermarket XM. Installed the antenna under the passenger fake plastic air cover up where hood meets windshield. I have my nav antenna under the other one. No drops on either signal here. The stock XM antenna is supposed to be installed in the middle of the dash near the center A/C tubes.

I have a little antenae on the roof, above the front passenger seat. I assumed that was XM and On-Star. Is that right?

That is the Onstar antenna. The XM antenna is mounted in the dash near the center A/C outlet tubes.

I have the Factory Nav and OnStar which are in the same Shark Fin Antenna. When you order factory Nav,Onstar,XM...it all comes in the Shark Fin Antenna on the Passenger side front roof.
Mine only came with OnStar and Nav. The Dealer XM add on placed my small box shaped XM \ antenna on the very front center of the roof with the lead wire tucked under the rubber windshield molding that leads into the cabin to the radio XM module.
After I added the Roof Marker Lights ,the XM antenna was moved directly behind and centered up against the Marker Light rear base.
The Antenna likes the roof mount the best ..as the large metal roof area acts as the receiving "Ground Plane" that reflects the signal to the antenna. Best recption will be found on the roof even though it will work inside,..... the roof is still the best place.

since the signal is weaker in my area, i had to upgrade to a marine round antenna that was actually made for sirius, but it gives me full signal here most of the time. i mounted it on the passenger side edge of my roof rack.

Yep..it's getting the refelections and ground planing off of your roof. It would work even better if it was in the center and on the roof it's self if your having drop outs. Or..mounted on the roof rack which would center it in the roof. but the best place is in contact with the roof center. In strong recption areas the front will work fine.
The centering would give you even recption in all directions of travel.

Actually the Navagation antenna is mounted from the factory in the dash on the air duct. The XM and ONSTAR are on the roof.

I have the after-market module that is controlled by and displayed on the factory head unit. My (magnetic) antenna is mounted on the roof rack track, passenger side, all the way forward. It's opposite my CB antenna mount (same place, driver's side. Fantastic reception except when inside an enclosed concrete garage. :beerchug:

True, and if youre having problems pull your glove box door all the way down after you disconnect the little string on the right hand side and you'll see where the antenna connections meet sometimes the connectors get bent during installation
