Well guys, I just upgraded from my ?06 base to an ?07 Adventure package.

Should be happy right?

Nope.

Less than 36 hours after taking delivery, I find this waiting on me in the garage.

I haven?t the words to express the level of PAIN I wish for this M*THERF*CKER to feel ! ! !

The best I can tell, he used a screwdriver to pop the window/frame and gain entry to the vehicle.
He flipped up the back seat, climbed in, discovered my locked tool box and cardboard box with U-Steps In it
WAS NOT the sub-woofer box he thought it was?? and hauled ass??

Nothing else stolen, nothing else even touched.

The bad part is the damage to the door when he pried on the window frame?.

So sorry, Man, that totally sucks! I had my driver's window smashed, GPS and a few grand in tools stolen one time. Broken into twice. Had all 5 tires vandalized beyond repair and had the whole truck stolen once. That last guy is doing 6 months with Bubba. The D.A. asked about my losses (around $6k in electronics & tools) and said if the guy chooses to work ('cause they can't force him to do so) while incarcerated, I can attach his earnings until reimbursed. I know I'll be holding my breath on that one. I've gone to lock boxes inside and new home insurance. Sorry about your truck. Make sure you get your door opened and shop-vac out all the glass chips from the center rail or it will drive you nuts whenever you shut the door. See if that MF can outrun a 9mm projectile.

Did you have an alarm of any type?

Gunner_45

Thanks for the advice on the door....THAT would drive me nuts...

I just had the factory POS alarm.........

The way these guys operate and the fact that I am 6 floors up
from the garage, I'm not sure a hi-end alarm would have done much.

They've gotten several BMW's, a Vette and some Mercedes. All had
hi-end, big buck alarms and the owners were major-ly pissed that they still
got broken into.

Sad part is, this happened in a secure/gated garage. Card key access only.

Security cameras showed a black male in a hoodie with a screwdriver in
his back pocket. Cops blame the property manager, property manager
blames the cops.

Man, I work 60/70 hour work weeks to have nice things, provide a nice lifestyle for my
wife, mom and mother in law….When ass holes do **** like this…..My inner redneck
boils to the surface and I want to kill the mother ****er. But I doubt I’ll ever see this guy
caught or have an opportunity for revenge….That’s so damn frustrating.

Arrrrggggghhhhhh…..I’ve got to stop typing as my blood pressure is going through the roof…..

I appreciate you guys letting me vent…….

Thats awful. I'm sorry. She was so new.:(

Well, it happened on the property owner's watch, I don't see how the police would be at fault. But both of them should be helping!

Did they take finger prints or anything?

Congrats on the new rig!

Sorry that it started off bad.

You can't blame the cops for this, but if a lot of cars are getting hit in this garage, the property manager needs to do something about it.

I was planning on installing my alarm over the weekend, but ended up sick in bed most of it. It's definitely a top priority.

After seeing alot of people on here having break-in issues, I have been contemplating a Viper alarm. I would go ballistic if someone broke into my truck.

Congrats on the new truck, terribly sorry about the bad luck. The lack of disrespect for personal property in this country is out of hand. Whether it is tree-hugging hippies vandalizing SUV (seems Hummers are primary targets) or thugs stealing from those of us who work hard to afford nice things. It makes you affraid to even drive your truck.

Just two weeks ago one of my best friends had somebody drive by and shoot the side of his brand new Dodge 2500 quad cab while it was parked outside of his firehouse. Come on...who would do that kind of thing to a firefighter? I hope that SOB's house burns down.

sorry about the vandalism.
really sucks.
i'd be furious too!!!
just be glad you have insurance and glad that your family wasn't at risk.
it costs money, but these material things can be easily replaced, family can't.

Man, that is horrible. And I feel for you.
I live in the heart of Atlanta now, and my dad forbid me to bring my truck there, so i have it parked at home. And I was pi$$ed to high-heaven. But the amount of bums, and homeless people seems far more than i've seen from other bigger cities (new york)(philly)(ratio wise that is). And I know now that I really cant bring it here, because the odds are, like yourself, you have it parked for the whole day, relying on these gates and guards to protect your vehicle, but these guys dont care. Its not their car, they are just sitting there waiting for the time to pass. And the odds that after all these hours of a goshdamn hummer parked their unguarded, its like a forbidden fruit for these damn poor people(im generalizing) and for them to fight the temptation...its just too much. Anyway, i drive a 1999 Toyota Corolla while im downtown, and only see my baby when I go home...(granted i only live 30miles away from downtown)

I can tell your angry, but the worst feeling i feel in your words you type, is the lack of revenge. Thats a shiddy feeling, knowing that you cant get revenge. all i would want is to beat that person up for doing what they did.

Im ranting, and venting my frustration out alittle, because what happened to you feels so close to me.
good luck

Sorry about your truck bro. I could imagine how you feel, I would be just as pissed. I always have to keep mine in the garage overnight because suvs have been being stolen left and right around here lately too. Looks like u got some nice rims on that thing. Are they stock?

I've parked mine all over downtown Dallas (used to work in the green building) and haven't had any issues...

Was it Dallas and if so, which building/lot?

This too, shall pass. A few months ago, I took delivery of a new Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport with High End Coil over lift, piggy back shocks, on, and on. 2 weeks later some guy runs a red light and totals me out. The silver lining is once the thing was fixed I went right down and traded it in on 2007 H3 Adventure, black just like yours. So hang in there and you will get through this. I know that the fact you can't get revenge (it would be nice to be able to destroy something of this person's that they really liked) is a bummer, most of us have probably been there. This is getting a little scary. I am afraid to take my eyes off my Hummer for fear of vandals, thiefs, and the rest of the haters out there. Good luck with getting your H3 back quickly with a good repair, and with as little hassle as possible!!

Really sorry about your H3. As for the alarms -Why get one? I am a police officer and I hear those things go off all the time. I have never seen anyone check out their vehicle when it goes off. I have noted when someone needs a jump start, the first thing I ask is if they recently had an alarm installed. It pulls enough juice to drain the battery, if it sits for a time in a lot. Still not enough of a deterrent. It does not mean someone is messing with your vehicle when one goes off, it means someone is in and stuff is gone.
They best stop for the thief :twak: is a .357, 40 or 45.

Ok folks....A couple of days have passed now and I have calmed down a bit.

Can't thank you guys enough for the support and opportunity to vent.

The truck is now in the shop and I'm in a decent rental?..(White Buick Lucerne)

Can't decide whether to call it Leviathan or the White Whale.......My H3 has a better turning radius.:giggling: :giggling: :giggling:

Had a smooth ride with the insurance company and it looks likes
the H3 is in good hands with the Sewell Collision Center. I guess I'll get
to see if they live up to their reputation.......

Final estimate: $1076.30
ETR: Unknown

Previously unseen damage to the door frame and inner door panel ran the
cost up quite a bit. Unfortunately, they will have to paint the whole door.

Wonder if they can match the factory orange peel......:giggling:

Any who....

As bad as I want retribution, it quite simply is not going to happen. Just something I need to get over.

I will however, do my utmost to make the property manager?s life as miserable as I can. (Some solace there at least)

From what I understand there were two other hi-end rides (Benz & Lexus) that were burgled and the owners have assured me
they will be up Ms Penelope Property Manager's ass with a jackhammer as well.

So in the end?the car should be close to new again, I aint in jail or stabbed and laying in the hospital...
And I can always re-make my $$ deductible?.

Once it's back....

I have some new Katzkins to get installed, a pair KC?s to wire up, a few new mods to make and some trails to explore
(If the paint is cured up enough).

I?ll let you know how everything turns out.

Remember......be ever vigilant.

Almost forgot...

SteveRH: It happened in the resident’s garage at my place here in Uptown.

BTW: You got a Gobi or something on top of that rig now along with all the accoutrements?

Capo H3: Yeah, those are ProComps and Swampers. Thanks for noticing.

You're right in part in that a lot of people ignore alarms. You'll also notice when an alarm goes off in a parking lot that people tend to look around to see what vehicle it is. Granted, it's more out of disgust than concern, but still they're looking.

The other problems you mention come from poor quality alarms or even more of a factor, poorly installed alarms.

If I hear the alarm going off on one of my vehicles, I will check it. Why, because it doesn't false (OK, I have had a hail storm set off a glass break sensor).

The siren under the hood isn't much of a deterrent. The sirens inside the vehicle are as is the air horn under the hood if they go far enough to trip it.

The other benefits of an alarm are insurance discounts and convenience features like remote start and window automation etc.

Your suggestion for "the best way to deal with a thief" is a bit extreme for property theft or vandalism IMHO.

Sorry about your brake in.. That sucks big time.. As far as the alarm thing goes ....nobody pays attention to them most of the time. Except.. when your carrying a remote that alerts you that your alarm went off and shows you the brake in point on a display.

I have the Viper SST5900 which does just that, up to a mile in range. depending on terrain. My 3 is in my drive way at night and if some one brakes in or jacks it up or even hangs around the the 3 ..the proximity sensor will trip the alarm.

It has already paid for it's self a few weeks ago at 2:am in the morning. Some one was up to something when the alarm went off and the remote signaled me. I got to the front door to just catch the red of a set of tail lights hauling ass from the church parking lot across the street.

So yes..for the most part ..alarms are only good if they call you. Maybe you should look into the Viper.
