I haven't yet, but I learned today to make sure you feel the wheel hubs at every 200-400 miles on the trailer. If they are so hot they can burn you, you have a bearing problem that could cause a wheel to come off of the trailer. Probably knowledge everyone else knew, but a handy bit to know if you didn't.

Depends on what youve got my 06 with 3.5 is rated in the owners manual as 4500lb however its tied to your payload limits. I think the tongue weight limit is 500lbs.
Bear in mind GM typically underrates;) its limits for safety.

Lex - your trailer ROCKS! Where'd you buy it? I have been thinking about one very similar to that, but a bit bigger, myself. A military buddy of mine knows where to shave weight off of these ones to increase its capacity while retaining hauling capcity when considering overall towing weight.

I was thinking of buying a 18 foot camper.(new/used ?)
They come in at under 3000 Lbs dry
Has anyone towed one down the beach,its about a 2 mile run somewhat soft.
Thinking ahead to next summer:D

The line of the trailer looks like a match to the H3. The recovery loop makes it even better with the design line...

Sorry, I haven't responded quickly.

They are around in different locations. This one was in Un-issued condition and was $1350. Others can be bought cheaper, but might need some more work to bring back to the Original appearance.
I had some small surface rust corrected, mounted the Fuel/Water can backets, and had the entire piece painted back to the OEM color. Then through the OEM contractors, I was able to get replacement parts and the reflective stickers for the body. I also replaced the tires with USGI Non Directional Tread.
It is Canadian. M101 CDN2, 1/4 Ton trailer.

There is a yahoo group for the trailer with lots of info. Also some possible areas that they may be found. Most are still in Canada, but can be found in the US as well.

They were made as a modified heavier duty version of the USGI M416 trailer, for the Jeep. The Candian M101's are for the VW Iltis.
It really does go well with the H3.

It's o.k. I mean it's nice to have a base of operations at the dunes, or the beach, or the ORV areas around here. A lot of people pull their trailers up to the trail heads around here and it becomes a little community for the weekend, with the 4x4 and trail bike people running the trails all day and then partying at night. I like the A/C, and the shower/bathroom, and the kitchen, and the sat TV, and the flat screen, and the ps2, and the double bed, and the... you get the ideal. Nice to come back to after a long day of riding the trails and cleaning up, relaxing and catching the ball game with dinner. And, for some reason, women just love it. Go figure? I am trying to decide on one of the tents for the top of the H3 or little off-road trailer (I am digging the arm surplus trailer - would be a cool little restoration project) for longer off-road excursions as sleeping in the back of the H3 doesn't cut it. 2006 16ft Bambi CCD. Took it down to Florence Oregon last month and drove the H3 and bike all over the dunes for 4 days. It is like being in a studio apartment right out there in the middle of nowhere. Just right for 2 people. Every once in a while, I pimp it out a little more (i.e. Direct TV, PS2, a couple flat screen monitors, etc.) My last upgrade was XM and 4 MB Quart serpartes and Bazooka 10" sub, let me tell you it rocks in that little trailer). If I had kids I would move up to a larger model... and an Alpha! :giggling: My H3 pulls it like its a bag of feathers (2007 w/adventure and 35's). Ive been looking for a small trailer 16 to 18 foot that tows easy.Im going to see if theres a local dealer .:beerchug:

I have one of these that works well for when I go out by myself. Sets up in about 30 seconds. Can buy it in a double wide as well.

Sweet camper but the new 18 footers I was looking at are about 12k to 15k and they are much lighter
I might get a few year old one for about 7-8k

Then, I struck out on my own. Did a few resto's and used the proceeds to buy the Bambi. And since I got the H3 vs. the H2 it has freed up extra cash every month for upgrades to the Bambi.

The link below is a pretty good site for seeing pictures of the inside and out. Yeah, they have a new "narrow body" that is pretty cool. Less money and not as heavy. Although, my H3 pulls mine fine.

Yeah, they are expensive. But, they hold their resale and you can keep 'em forever. In my opinion, the Airstreams are a bette deal than most of the white vinyl sided trailers out there. Although, there are some decent ones.

It is a pretty cool project to score a decent older Airstream and refinish yourself.

P.S. I think the fold out tent is pretty cool too.

There is one in Waterbury, CT. I have to get a road trip up there to chech them out.
Also someone I work with told me about Eddie's, at exit 68. Apparantly a lot of small pull behinds to choose from in addition to buses, and Mid sizes.

I saw a trailer guy on the north side of LIE between exit 64 and 65 ,Im going to have to stop in,I didnt see anyone around 68 ,Thats the exit for smith point beach(I was out there last week they had the back trails closed but the whole beach was open to wheeling all the way up to the inlet(5 or 6 miles).:jump:

I saw this a month ago or so, it's small but you can sleep in it and trailer kayaks, bikes or an atv ect.... pretty cool. Prolly only a weekend stay tho, it's pretty small for a long camp out.
