Why do people run 18 inch 19-20 inch wheels on theyre Rigs, Is it too fill the void in the wheel well?

Is it just for looks?

Is there some advantage in fuel etc.. in running a bigger than stock Rim?

Thanks, I just havent been able to figure this out, except for Looks?

well i think its just for looks.. its harder on your breaks and worst gas mileage. but it looks cool ! sometimes.

Looks more than anything. The bigger the wheel the more rotational mass. So it takes more power to get it moving and more breaking to stop.

So, with some of those thoughts,

I currently have 20 inch rims and 37 inch tires, nitto mud grapplers, both came with the Rig when I bought it off a friend,

It also has a 4 inch rancho suspension lift, what Size Wheel
What size tire would look okay with that Lift


My current rims are chrom and I want Black Mojaves and an All Terrain BF Goodrich Tire, for less noise and less bling, but not sure of the correct size with that lift and not sure of the Backspace to get?

I would think that the same size you have right now would be fine. If you don't like the look, then you could go to a 40 inch, but I think that takes away function if you use everyday.

I think the Rancho kist needs a 4.5" bs rim. 17, 18, or 20's look good IMO as long as you are running a 37" tire with that lift. I ran 37 13.50 17 pro comp extreme AT's on my last truck with that lift. They fit in there perfect...even when aired down.

40" tire = too big for 4 inch lift.

I personally like a nice balance of side wall for off roading and tall wheels for highway driving. On the H2 with stock lift, I prefer 20s with 37s. I like the extra height of the wheel to help with body roll on the road

block is that stock or did you add a lift, im putting that same rim but with a bfg mt km2 instead of a nitto

Blocks is lifted, look at the front of his Rig you can see the Square Raised Block under his H2 aluminum skid plate, Im guessing hes 4 inches on a Rancho?

No benefit off-road

Large diameter wheels with shorter sidewalls do nothing for off-road performance or ride.

Number one reason is appearance. Secondarily, some aftermarket multi-piston brake calipers need a larger wheel to accommodate their size.I would think that the same size you have right now would be fine. If you don't like the look, then you could go to a 40 inch, but I think that takes away function if you use everyday.
dk If you want to go 40" or larger, consider changing your gearing. Changing shift points on the computer has its limitations.
