 So I took ol' Bam-Bam down to the local care stereo shop, and was met with a silver cross, and garlic, APPARENTLY no one in the shop will touch the H3 for installing and aftermarket DVD/NAV system with BU Cam, something about the factory stereo being the "Brain" for the cabin, and difficulty doing installs, but when I took it to Best Buy, the 17 yo kid couldnt wait to get it in the bay, my spider sense told me to just walk away when the local professional shop wouldnt touch it, but wonder boy wanted to dive in with both feet.... any input guys?

Ive read other posts about installing aftermarket nav, there is a good write up on the AVIC z1... as far as being the brain?! Thats why they make adapters!

DO NOT TAKE TO BEST BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!! We at the dealership had to clean-up there mess-ups and they are wireing nightmares. They really know how to cut wires that should not be cut.

There is a right way and and a wrong way of doing an aftermarket sound system. There is a buy-pass mod that need to be installed in you H3 for the system to work right, the radio needs to be able to comunicate with the on-star mod.

I have a buddy here in conroe that runs a stero shop and his guys do the best work and know hummers inside out. I have 2 pair of seperates, one rockford 10, box, and two amps, one a alpine one a rockford. INSTALLED for 900.00!!! Its sounds great and NO issues. Its just a matter of find a shop that KNOWS how to work on them.

I just replaced my factory nac with a Pioneer AVIC Z2 and everything works fine. Mine is a 2007.

My experience has been that dealerships usually know local installers who can work on their vehicles without fukking up things. Good luck!

:iagree: Just dont have the dealer do it they tend to mark it up.:shhh:

I had mine done by a highly recomended shop that does new cars for multiple dealers.
2 years and everything works fine,It was the first H3 they did he asked to keep it a extra day so he could get some wiring info and do it correctly(he dont like to cut wires to find the correct one.)

He also gave me a 3 year warranty that he gives to dealers.http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
