I bought the system a few months back. The system integrates well into the stock system. The new front door speakers deliver a very crisp sound. The 10'' woofer produces enough bass to really enhance the music, without being overbearing. I also like the fact you can't really see that you've upgrade the system without listening to it (obviously if you look hard enough you can see the enclosure under the sit, but it's not easily seen) I enjoy the system.

Does the base hit hard if you crank it up and stay crisp? WHat kind of music are you listening to when you consider the speakers to stay crisp?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I only see 2 speakers, subwoofer & panel, and some wiring.
What about those dinky speakers in the back, don't those rate an upgrade ? Anyone have pics of this system installed (especially the woofer & panel) ?

At first I was disappointed with the bass the system produced. Even if I turned up the volume the bass didn't hit harder and I couldn't take the midrange and higher part of the music coming out of the door panel. Very clear and crisp but just too loud. After about a day it dawned on me to just adjust the equalizer so I could turn the volume up without killing my hearing. I turned the bass all the way up and the other two, midrange and treble, down some. On the R&B and Rap music that is design to have a hard bass line the bass is good. It hits as good as a 10'' woofer can hit but without the distortion. You won't win any contests with the bass the system will produce but it is enough bass to really enjoy the music with a good bass line. My classical music and Jazz also sound great.
The system is a definite upgrade to the stock system. You can easily hear the difference.

I bought the unit from Predator Motorsports and the dealership installed it for me. They charged me for two hours of labor but I don't think it took that long.

I had my system installed a couple of days ago, It sounds really good for a factory extension type system. If someone decides to purchase one don't expect big aftermarket sound out of it. Just consider it an factroy system upgrade. The installation took about 2.5 hours most of that time was removing the radio etc.................. My overall opinon is that it is worth the money, by the way the price has come down a bit around $999.00 give or take a couple of dollars!

Very nice system and from a great company too.
The only thing is that want to up grade the head
unit first and then work on sub bass systems next.

08 wiring is different, so is the interior setup. SUT was a special part to begin w/ before all the changes -- I don't think it will be as 'plug and play' as the earlier ones, but in the end, it's just an amp and speakers...plus this kit comes with door speakers for the old interior...I'd be very careful if I were you.

The guy from SOMO source motors. told me that it will fit the rear seat on the 2008 H2 SUT. About the wiring, its gonna be different, but ill figure it out how to connect it. I checked the front speakers, are the same size, 6 1/2".
I ordered today, ill let you know next week what happend.

Looks Great, 3 Questions.
1- What wires do you need to tap into and why?
2- Do you need to run a lower gage wire for power?
3- Is the sound quality worth almost $1,000 that is costs for this system?

Hi guys,
I just got my Rockford system installed tonight on my 06 sut. Unfortunately, I'm extremely disappointed. Even for $500 bucks. The worst part of it is that Fosgate accidentally included a bill to SOMO for a "drop ship" for $250 bucks. That's right $250.. That's what it's really worth. So, SOMO is selling them for 500 (used to be 1100) and is currently paying 250 per system
Needless to say, It's probably worth doing your research before buying instead of going for the best deal.
This system is great for the "younger" crowd who like bass over quality. I've had custom systems during my younger years and I can tell you that the plastic enclosure simply makes the bass too sloppy. It's sounds like a flabby 15" sub. I was expecting the tight sound of a sealed 10" but to no avail. I simply don't think that the plastic enclosure is any better than sticking a subwoofer into a tupperware container and expecting good sound. The door speakers are decent but I decided to upgrade the fronts and throw the fosgates from the kit in to the rear doors.
The sub is simply not crossed over correctly and (maybe mine is defective) there is no separate Subwoofer control. The sub is tied directly into the harness for the door speakers. So if you want to turn the sub down you need to crank the bass setting all the way down. I wish there was a crossover or volume control directly on the Subwoofer! It's either too loud or too "active" .. It's like having a bad exhaust that "drones" while driving on the highway.
I went ahead and installed a kenwood 5120. Since the sub is tied into the rear door speakers I cannot use the separate sub controls on the head unit.. Sucks. So, I had to change the cross over settings for the rear speakers on the head unit which allows me to decrease the frequencies below 80HZ or 120HZ.. Unfortunately this decreases the volume of the lower frequencies but does not cut out the drone of the higher frequencies that seem to hit all the way up into where the "mids" should play.
All in all i'm extremely disappointed in this system.
sorry for the grammatical or spelling spelling errors.. I was typing this while attempting to play with my children.
I hope this helps anyone considering this system. Please give SOMO the benefit of the doubt as my system may be faulty. I'm still not happy with the "fixed" state of the subwoofer amp and it's lack of adjustable volume/crossover settings.

I was actually looking forward to geting one of these, but it seems the bass quality is so-so and hook ups for a 2008 are iffy. Oh well.
I went ahead and put the system in my '06 SUT as well - my radio is the stock nav unit.
The sub really makes a huge difference in music with a big distinct bass line - RAP, house, hip hop and newer pop. Makes the XM sound decent and sounds great with a CD.
The sub sounds its best with the system cranked but is a little difficult to find a comfortable level at moderate volumes. At low volumes the sub is fine. The great thing is that with the earlier comments here I expected some bottoming out and muddy sound but I'm pretty happy as the response seems to go plenty low with no bottoming out as I've had with some other smaller aftermarket subs.
I'd agree that a variable crossover and gain control would really finish this off nicely - I've found with my prior custom systems that I was constantly adjusting the gain of my sub based upon the volume and style of music I was enjoying.
I'm going to call Rockford tomorrow and see if there's a gain control that I could wire into the sub somehow.
Bottom line - I like it. The stock system probably sounds better at low to middle volumes but this shines if you like to crank it and feel the bass in your seat.
The price at $500 (try to ignore the 100% markup - you probably pay that a lot more often than you realize!) is reasonable given the clean and simple integration with the stock system.

Jason,
I just bought one from Somo but I am having issues with the Sub, its way to loud and wont adjsut with the VOl. It is always thumping even with the Vol down low. Can you email me at mattca@hotmail.com to discuss?
Anyoen else have this issue? I have a 2004 H2
Thanks
Sounds like it's somehow connected wrong. Mine goes up and down with the speakers and if I want more or less of it I just adjust the Bass slider in the EQ settings. A couple of clicks either way makes a noticeable difference in the subs volume. Anything below the midline on the Bass slider basically takes the sub out.
Since the wiring is pre-done with a pigtail, it's possible that the wires were put together wrong at Rockford. I'd check the wire colors and give Rockford Fosgate a call for a schematic to check it against. I had to call them about some missing parts and received great service from the guy who answered the phone.

Looking to put this in my 2006 SUT. From what I am reading above I am getting mixed feelings. Any other input? Sounds like the bass is decent. Has anyone else had any issues with adjusting the bass, in essence turing it off. I don't need to have the bass thumping at all time.
Are there any other options out there to keep the subs beneath the seats. I know I could get a custom box and subs but that may add up quickly...
Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased this system on eBay and after installing it, I noticed that it really wasn't that much better than the stock system. I've always upgraded the sound system in every vehicle that I've owned...So with that being said, I'm not easliy impressed with just a slight upgrade over stock. Honestly, I kind of figured that I wouldn't be satisfied with this system but for the price that I paid ($249), the subwoofer enclosure alone was worth that much. I already had a plan B in place before the install anyway. I'm actually only using the sub enclosure alone...I removed the tiny amp and the Rockford P1 sub from the enclosure...I resealed the enclosure and added a Rockford P3 shollow mount sub temporarily until I get the Alpine shallow mount sub. I'm also using Alpine Type-R speakers in all 4 doors for mids and highs. The amp that I'm using is the new Alpine PDX-5 that runs the whole system...it's a very clean 5 channel amp...75watts RMS to each door speaker and 300watts RMS to the subwoofer. I have to say that I'm really impressed with the way my sound system turned out because the SUT doesn't have much of an option when it comes to adding a decent sounding subwoofer unless you do a complete custom job which will cost a lot of money. Anyway, I would highly recommend my setup to anyone with an H2 SUT.

Apologies for resurrecting such an old thread. Had a question for those of you who have seen this kit. I have an '08 H2, but my middle row seats aren't the normal bench i.e. they don't sit three, i have basically 2 seats with a gap in the middle (both single seats have arm rests both sides etc). Do you think this would still fit ? I've not actually seen any pics taken from above with the thing in situ, and am wondering if i'd run into problems with my configuration.
Also with the 08/09 models, anyone know if this harness is plug and play or i need to start splicing.
Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this.

Ah thanks for letting me know, I guess It's back to the drawing board then. If anyone else ever came up with a solution to a stealth install or knows any products similar that are plug and play(ish)- i'm all ears. With the rear row seats, i've not got much room in the back as it is, so Sticking big sub boxes is out the question am afraid.
Thanks again for the response.
