OK...I am pretty smart guy...but cannot seem to figure out a setting on the NAV unit.
There is a display brightness setting on the unit, the manual SAYS that if you set it to automatic, it will sense the light level and adjust the display brightness accordingly....well I've set the panel to automatic but it doesnt seem to auto adjust between day or night.....any ideas?

No idea on that one, but I can't seem to figure out how to set the 'Home' location marker. When it comes up it automatically shows a different address (which doesn't even exist) and I can't find how to change it.
Now I haven't played with it much, but it sure doesn't seem as simple to use as the previous ones.
I do like the split screen feature so that you can see the radio information and the NAV screen on one page.
From what I can tell, I think my auto brightness is working ok, it doesn't change all that much but it seems to change some.
One thing I've also noticed is the Auto headlights seem to want it to be full bright daylight out before they shut off these mornings now that it's darker outside.

The brightnees change usaly isnt that great so you may not notice it. At night it will dim but look the same as it did in the day time.
Now if at night its annoyingly bright then I'd say it not working, but if its comfortable its working fine.

Never seen the 08 but on most navs the land turns to black on night mode too.

I've noticed the change is subtle, was out in last night. I didnt switch to the map screen though to see if the land turned black. I know when you manually change from night/day on it the land changes. I'll have to check it out a little more.
With all this high tech stuff we're going to be aeronautical engineers to pilot these beasts pretty soon!
I do know one thing...my Jimmy Buffett discs sounds freaking nice in that new 5.1 surround sound....
