My year is almost up on my XM radio. Is there a way to get the $77.00 I paid the first time, instead of the $13.99 a month they now want to continue the service?
:crying:
Any suggestion? Time is running short on this one.

if you add a second radio and get on the family plan, the additional subscritions are a little cheaper. also, if you pay a year or 2 in advance you get a discount. either way, it is worth it especially off road where cd's get destroyed rather quickly!
put it this way - the monthly XM subscription is less than buying 1 new cd per month, do the math.

just tell them you want the discount price, that other friends of yours got it, or you'll cancel, believe me, you'll get it.

yeah.. if you can find someone that has XM and have them add u to the account, it's $7.99/mo. = $95.88/yr. I get my use out of it by listening on the way to work and take advantage of the "listen online" feature while at work... for just 26 cents a day if you think about it.

O&A rocks!

Anybody know if XM works in Alaska?Since it is, by definition, satellite radio, in theory it should work everywhere on Earth where you have a clear view of the sky. Foul weather and growth canopies can disrupt service. I have never tried using it in Alaska.

I thought the same thing, however traveling back and forth between homes revealed that when in Alaska only 1 of the 2 Dish network satellites is received, half of the channels.

here in cabo, we need larger antennas to pick up the xm stations.
sirius works here with just the normal antenna provided.
for dish net, we need a 2 meter dish to pick up all channels and for hd we need 3 dishes, one at 8 feet!

the high gain car antenna i purchased for xm here in mexico is actually a marine satellite antenna made for sirius radio, but it works great for xm.

you can find it on ebay for around $50. yuo can unscrew the top, and simply mount just the top part with its little plastic stand. that way it is still low profile.
i mounted it on one of the cross bows and it works fine. i have had it for nearly 2 years now. easy enough to do it yourself.
not sure if it will work in alaska though.
good luck.
